I took absolutely no pleasure writing this article, but I have a lot of research around obscenity law and historical precedents for this that I know nobody else has access to, and getting the information out there is crucial right now 😔

The core thesis of this article - one that echoes much of the other advice that I’ve seen floating around leftist spheres over the past week - is that our best defense against this type of censorship is mass grassroots action. If every person who reads this picked five books they want to preserve and five people they want to share this with, it would have a much broader impact than if a singular group of readers attempts to document and archive the entire corpus.

A centralized preservation effort can do immense work, of course, but it won’t be accessible to the trans people who need to read trans books and see trans joy to survive whatever comes next.

Update

We're still invaded with mold, the walls, the roof, the bathroom, the furniture, chairs, beds, closets, drawers, everything is moldy we've been living like this for months.

We have 2 elderly people and 4 kids here, we want to give them a safe place to live that doesn't present a health risk!!!

That's why only my partner and I are the only providers for the family. I'm so sorry for keeping quiet 🙇 but people get... Rude.

It's been very hard to live all 9 here trying to move to a room with less mold, we're all cramped in here.

I've been out of my medication since October 11th, I'm in pain all the time, my energy is drained all day and the pain on my feet won't let me stand or work or anything for that matter.

My partner needs to continue his treatment too, his starting to get tooth pain again.

We need food, both for us and the cats.

I have an opportunity to get healthcare for a month, that includes emergency and appointments. Not sure about medication but that's something.

I am the primary provider for my two disabled roommates, and I haven't gotten hours at work for a week. I've been filling out job applications, but rent is in 5 days, and we do not get a grace period. On top of this, due to the wording of our rent-to-own agreement, we must pay for the septic tank cleaning. That kinda pushes this into emergency territory because the septic is currently backed up already.

This month started with me trying to replace my stolen phone and has been full of expensive appointments and two flat tires. We are fighting an uphill battle with all the stuff that keeps going on.

Our rent is $700, and the septic tank cleaning is expected to be about $300 if we do the digging.
