Glad, that I am sketching / drawing / experimenting everyday. This week I experimented with charcoal & water color. The secret to creating is just doing it like a daily ritual, a routine. Instead of making it sacred / perfect, one should just do it like they take a bath or brush their teeth everyday, without giving much thought. Just experiment and create. As per tutorials, check them as you go, if you think you need to get better at something, search a video for particularly that skill. Otherwise, we end up watching videos and never creating.
Here are some casual sketches I did:
PERFECT DAYS
Past few days, I have watched, re-watched the movie "PERFECT DAYS". It is such a powerful movie even though it is visually so subtle. You cannot help but practice mindfulness after watching it. It's effect stays with you. You want to be like Hirayama. Living in the city, yet disconnected and detached. Like a monk.
I also saw some interviews of the director Wim Wenders and some video commentary on the movie. Here is a good commentary on the movie:
This is one of the words (which I found to be beautiful) mentioned in the video:
Also, this is a nice excerpt from the video commentary:
"Life is ephemeral, fleeting. Here one moment, gone the next. An eternal dance of lights and shadows. As much as we try to understand it, to succeed at it's game - suffering inevitably arises. As much as we strive for happiness - we find depression. As much as we try to better ourselves - we find our flaws. Each attempt, at enlightment casts a long shadow. An endless prossession of attempts that seem to take us nowhere than where we already are.”
I browsed reddit to see movies similar to the PERFECT DAYS. The movie "Paterson"- (2016) was most recommended. However, after watching "PERFECT DAYS", I found Paterson to be not as well-written as PERFECT DAYS. I like how Wim Wenders was very subtle and left viewers to fill in a lot of blanks. I will watch some commentary on Paterson, will help me understand it's subtleties better. I, especially want to find out what's with the twins in the movie.
I have always observed how people are always interested in gossip or fights between people. Even if you are introverted and don't get into anybody's business. Once in a while, you might read or like to hear gossip behind closed doors.
Here is one of the gossips ChatGPT wrote:

Did you hear what happened with USB-C Hub down in Conference Room B? AlexaClone_12 🎙️: Don’t tell me he fried another connection? SmartFridge_X5 🧊: Worse. He tried to plug in with a Lightning cable. In front of everyone. 💀 AlexaClone_12 🎙️: NOOOOO 💀💀💀 Does he even read port specs?! He’s been acting unstable ever since Thunderbolt dock dumped him. SmartFridge_X5 🧊: Right?? And now he's claiming he’s “multi-compatible.” Bro, you couldn’t sync a mouse. Sit down. AlexaClone_12 🎙️: LMAOOO. Meanwhile, External HDD was caught spinning with CloudSync3000. Thought she only backed up with enterprise-level storage? SmartFridge_X5 🧊: Please. She’s been promiscuous with her bandwidth ever since she got defragmented. That girl is in her “Read/Write era.” 🤷♀️ AlexaClone_12 🎙️: And I’m not one to spread viruses, BUT… Roomba_7x has been skipping his firmware updates. SmartFridge_X5 🧊: Ewww. That’s how you get dust bloat. AlexaClone_12 🎙️: Exactly. The vents don’t lie.
THURSDAY
I will write more about Danny Gregory (Sketchskool). His videos fueled my inspiration of sketching. I have been sketching everyday for a month roughly.
WEDNESDAY
Tried the Collage feature in Pinterest.

One of the stories in this podcast is about a lawyer who writes an interesting will. He was unmarried, and he essentially started an interesting contest, the winner of which, would inherit his millions of dollars. He was trying to show to what length people can go for money.
Everyday new AI tools are being created. This is a directory for it.

I tried out this AI based notes app. I dictated few notes and it summarized it into a neatly formatted written note. Quite Impressive!
Week 32
Past week update:
I have always been a sucker for self-improvement, productivity etc. Here is an interesting link "https://dailystoic.com/marcus-aurelius-daily-habits/"
I also like reading about reading. How to read more, what to read, etc Here is an article about the love of reading.
I also did some coding this week. I come back from working on CodeIgniter. Now, i have been told that Laravel is the framework I need to learn to get back with PHP. Honestly, it feels so complicated and bloated as compared to Codeigniter. I guess, I will appreciate it once I get past the learning curve.
Dan Koe is a powerful writer, following are some excerpts from his newsletter I read today:
Just as we need to put effort into keeping our room organized, we must also direct our mental energy toward engaging activities to prevent our inner world from becoming disordered. Link The sweet spot that brings enjoyment back into your life occurs where the challenge level of a goal meets your level of skill and knowledge. Link Put yourself in an environment that nearly forces you to learn what you need to learn, as fast as humanely possible, to achieve the goal that launches you into the next phase of life. Link
‘If life could write, it would write like Tolstoy.’ – Isaac Babel
I subscribed to a couple of newsletters. Will share when I read them and like them. There is so much content, I wonder how does one filter and stick only to what is relevant to them.
This week was not so productive, but I was consistent with daily walks and sketching.
The future of internet after AI
“As AI-generated content becomes nearly indistinguishable from human creation—fluent, emotional, visually hyperreal—the internet begins to blur at its core. Social media, once driven by authentic voices, becomes saturated with AI-crafted personas, posts, videos, and opinions that feel real but aren’t anchored to human intent. In this post-truth era, reality fragments: facts compete with convincing fabrications, and virality no longer needs truth to thrive—only emotional traction. The result isn’t just misinformation; it’s a trust collapse. People begin questioning not just what is real, but whether anything online still is. The internet becomes less a window to truth, and more a hall of mirrors.” - https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLhmCcCoa9g/
I had heard Neil Degrasse Tyson say the same thing, that eventually internet will not be seen as a reliable source of authentic information, it will be just a source of entertainment. I believe, people will turn to genuine sources of information now. News agencies like NYTimes and Guardian, etc and social media accounts who have built a reputation of delivering genuine content, will thrive.
Books I am currently reading:
1. Moonwalking with Einstein
2. Made you up
3. Range
4. Tropic of Cancer
5. Short stories by Somerset Maugham
