Grey whale hanging out off La Jolla Cove

Dozens of people gathered at La Jolla cove Friday to watch at least one grey whale swimming very close to shore.

Despite the title this was definitely NOT a Gray Whale (they also mispelled Gray Whale- the name comes from a Danish zoology professor rather than the color) but it is a NORTH PACIFIC RIGHT WHALE sighted off La Jolla, California!!!!

OMG!

According to NOAA, there are less the population of Eastern North Pacific Right Whales is only estimated to be less than 30 individuals- making them one of the rarest whales in the world!

Species ID confirmed by several folks in grand old cetal fauna. There was a report of a possible Right Whale in the area but it was not confirmed until this video came out. In it, some of the orangey callosites as well we pectoral flippers and flukes are visible- very much a Right Whale! Yeehaw!
