Clarissa felt her eyelids begin to flutter as she forced back the urge to roll her eyes, but once Kent finished and Valentina took over. Well, it was hard not to hold onto the table for support as she slammed back a shot and stood up. “This is fifty shades of fucked up, and I’m just gonna go. Seriously. Thanks for the life lesson on.. whatever causes this.” Slapping a twenty as she gathered her purse and phone, her eyes landed on Jamie before she let out a mild laugh. “So not even worth any of this effort. I’ll catch you all at another time. Hopefully more drunk then.” Perfectly manicured nails caught the light as she stepped back and waved to take her exit. Oh yes. Some life was just a little too real to deal with.
Jamie’s eyes followed Clarissa to the exit. The real issue had been showcased and it didn’t involve her anymore. Whatever problem Jamie had with Clarissa could be solved at another time, or just ignored altogether. It didn’t really matter, unless she’d start becoming that more relevant in Kent’s group. Which, oddly enough, Jamie wanted to be around more like she wanted Kent to feel more comfortable around Kyle and Amanda.
“I understand and at the same time I don’t, but it doesn’t have to be like this. I never wanted it to be this way for both of your sakes.”
Kent’s eyes didn’t leave Valentina’s. He refused to acknowledge Clarissa’s exit, because it was worth the effort. It was so worth the effort. Jamie’s voice, however, clouded his mind, and surrounded him when he had lost track of where she stood behind him. He reached back toward her, promise in hand that he’d explain at the same time I don’t, later. It was enough to stop him from keeping going.
“So willingly,” Kent affirmed, back arching off of the table top to stand up straight. “It’s not going to be. She gets me.”
“Come on, Jamie.”
Maybe I’ll see you later. The both of you.

I need a dance, a fuck, and a drink all in that order.
