I always get so scared to reblog someone's very old art cause they used to be in a fandom I am in but they're not anymore so it's awkward to be like "hey, nice art you just made ten seconds ago, but if you excuse me I would actually personally prefer to see old art you now don't like as much because it has blorbo from my shows." No nobody's doing that

-i love the idea of varian bringing hugo back to corona and warning him that he will be very unpopular if he hangs around varian… only for hugo to rapidly become just as unpopular by picking a (usually verbal) fight with the people who express hatred toward varian.

someone brings up his wrongdoings. hugo begins loudly praising varian for stopping the red rocks, inventing plumbing, etc.

(while lighthearted-interpretation-havers aren’t necessarily wrong for believing that varian would be hailed as a hero, i usually imagine him working in the castle. with frederic and his guards. not the biggest varian fan club.)

-if hugo has a metal arm, and varian lost his toes to frostbite, i imagine they have days of phantom pain. they don’t always happen on the same day, but whenever they do— say, right before a storm— the boys will cuddle, each doing everything he can to make the other feel better.

-varian is always making some sort of gift for hugo, which is hard because hugo is very touchy— as in, he will always have his arms around varian whenever possible. it’s difficult to surprise a guy who clings to you like a baby sloth.

-they argue a lot, but, most of the time, it’s just about the best way to do something. they usually reach a compromise that works better than either of their solutions.

-when their bickering does culminate into them lashing out at each other, they’ll walk off to calm down before apologizing for what they said a few hours later. (the first time varian and hugo went off to seek privacy, their respective abandonment issues had them convinced the other had left for good. it was very dramatic.)

-a significant amount of evil cackling coming from varian’s lab is just his boyfriend making him laugh.
