-Yule Shoot Your Eye Out-
The crunch of her black leather boots echoed through the desolate snow laden streets. Inside each flat the holiday lights, blaring music, laughter, and merry shouts assaulted on the senses. Kat couldnt help but cringe. Katherine was no scrooge but She was quite literally on the outside of the holiday everyone else was enjoying. Even so she pressed on, pulling her winter coat tighter around herself as the icy whips of wind whisked across her reddening face.
One more corner and it was back to her flat. Back to that den of silence that was both her sanctuary and sepulcher. It was the night before Christmas eve and everyone seemed to revel in their friends, family and lovers. her only intention was to lose her her train of thought in the all consuming flames of her fireplace and a bottle of schnapps. Just as she darted around the corner and towards her front steps she was stopped dead in her tracks by the dark figure standing propped against her front door. Violet eyes narrowed, straining through the wind that now appeared to take on a solid form as curtains of snow cascaded through the space between them. Even so, her eagerness to get home had faltered. She wasn’t ready to close the gap between her and that old familiar silhouette.
“Whats it been? At least a year?”
She called across the daft space between them.
