My journey in 2020. Should say last year has been great for me reading-wise. Though physically stuck indoors, I could travel all over the world and the entire fictional universe and even time through these books. Setting the same goal of 52 for this year, hopefully I'll read more wholesome meaningful books rather than slowly drifting toward fantasy as always. I tend to get excited when I see lights and colors and flowers. Jumping to books 41-43. I have been trying to read random genres, trying desperately not to go anywhere near YA Fantasy in particular (tbh, I'm old enough, not a young adult anymore). But, damn this book! I loved every bit of the book. I was transported to Japan and the fantasy world of kamis and yokais and it was magical. Book #2 of the year, #vandhargalvendrargal After cracking #ponniyinselvan and a few other books last year, I decided I'll read more Tamil books this year. And Madhan has been one of my favorites ever since I looked at his cartoons and read his small articles in Vikatan. I can't attempt to remember every single factual detail from this one, but I sure feel more familiar now about the history of the country. A very interesting read with a few jokes and jibes. Wish I had read the book while I was studying history in school. Would've made it really easier for me to write those essays in the exams. Rated the book 5 ✨ (I'm very generous with my rating usually, it doesn't really take a lot to please me, yup, I'm that type) Also, currently I'm still on book 26 - A Suitable Boy. I have successfully completed 1/3rd of the book now. It's been a little more than one quarter of 2020 and I have finished 25 books! Yayyyy!! To celebrate that and to not leave my insta too empty, I've decided to chronicle a wee bit about all those I've read so far. Would also help me remember a little about the book, looking back, say in the next year, next month. Who knows? Memory is such a fickle thing. This book is one of the best funnies I've read and the fact that I heard it is an audio book is an advantage. It was like listening to hours of continuous stand-up comedy. Ali herself had done the audio version. For someone kinda skeptical to try out audiobooks, this was a huge plus. It talks about her life, some advice for her kids and women and girls everywhere and mostly just funny anecdotes and incidents from her life. I rated it 5 stars on goodreads mainly for the entertainment factor. I went back and watched Hard Knock Wife after the book and wow, she's too good!
