lastly -- today i did another cipher screencap redraw! 

i kind of messed up along the way. like with his neck. but for a rough amateur sketch done in an hour, it’s fine.

i don’t feel like i learned as much as i did in previous draws. but it looks cool.

spoon drills from ctrlpaint. tried to follow the example and my own real spoon.

i tried to shade and color it lightly like i did that bowl last year but uhhhhh was not ready for metallic reflections it turns out (shocker!)

you’ll notice my spoons fall apart as i get fatigued, though they improve a bit once i try my own method, and once i revisit the video and notice how he does the head first.

wasn’t trying to make her look good or reference anything. just a super quick doodle to see if i could synthesize ideas from charcater creators

hint: i can’t

but i wanted to draw something tonight. 

been a long week. next thursday i’ll properly draw

BUT LOOK! EYES!

I saw a chibi artwork on twitter (by user mimiblargh, just go give a shout out to an artist i follow because they’re all great) and i got a weird urge to try doing something that is simple, because that’s how i draw eyes. 

this pink idiot is the only OC who i have a good ref pic for on hand. also i like drawing hair. 

gave up on the hat because it was an afterthought, admittedly. i was like “hm, why’s he look off?” and then i realized oh. 

i originally wanted to do the circle style but then i said “hey, for the hell of it, lemme try and draw a head” and oh my god will i ever know how to draw a head. so i gave up quickly. 

i need to learn how to color like a big kid, but tediously filling in the gaps manually with my brush is too cathartic. this took me like 40 minutes but i enjoyed it. 

i should draw flowers next.

can’t wait to try and draw other OCs. so many of them don’t have proper art. i’m excited.

Been listening to a lot of emilie autumn lately for some reason. Her album art is great reference. She makes very distinctive but clear poses. 

Last picture is an “explosion” of all the draw-overs. 

Trying to capture the angling and twist and fluidity of her pose was such a challenge. I also didn’t mimic the angle properly lol.

Though I need to practice proper face/head proportions. I doodled a head based off of a character creator and did a lot of eye practice, just because i’ve had sooo much trouble with eyes. 

I can draw eyes on a blank canvas, but the moment I have to draw it on a person, even if it’s not angled/perspective.........

The simplest art styles are the hardest to make look good.

Drew again tonight! Asked again “What should I draw” and I got “Able Sisters”

Only drew mable though. 

Torn on whether or not I should have angled the muzzle down.

Proportions were way harder than I thought. I spent FOREVER redrawing those arms and i’m still not happy with it. In the end, I think her body is a little too long, and I shouldn’t have been so obsessed with the bend of her left arm. Her arms are too thin for the roundness of her body and legs. It was super hard positioning the arms though. I know where they should go and how they should angle, but I just never got it to look right. I should have taken a more cylindrical approach to add dimension to it. 

I also redrew the spines...

and...in the end...I wish i didn’t lol

Then a friend said to draw zucker. So I did!

This was fun! And It was a good opportunity to try out some coloring. Wonder how it’d look with a better outline color...but I don’t feel like exiting it lol.

His mouth was weirdly tricky! But trying out some blending was fun!
