I have learned that my least favorite thing in the world is drawing a complicated background in fisheye. I will cry most ardently if I must do it again. All that work for only one panel T_T Regardless, I'm very pleased with how this page came out.

Not gonna lie this page took it out of me. I want to say never again am I writing a page with three panels of almost nothing but detailed landscape/scenery but… I will probably definitely do it again.

Also, this page has a new animal appearance-- the mighty Quillcat!

I've been wanting to make something based off the cactus cat cryptid for a while but just haven't gotten around to it. I figured those loonies up at Big MT did something silly as they usually do. Quillcats are thought to be a mix between a porcupine and a house cat and they're great at keeping away rodents. They also, incidentally, do eat wallawail which keeps the little buggers from overpopulating. This is definitely not the kind of cat that you want to step on with bare feet and they're not very pet-able, but legend has it that if you see one when lost in the desert then it can lead you to water. It's debatable on if you can actually DRINK that water though lol.

Wooo, this page took a while but I'm pretty pleased with it. Thankfully it should be the last one with complicated lighting for a while.

Anyone else being murdered by seasonal allergies? I've been just dead lately. Aw well. Here's to hoping the next few pages are a little easier.

Ah, I meant to have this out sooner but for some reason my brain decided this page was a metaphorical 'hot stove' and did NOT want me to touch it. I reeeeeally do not know why my brain decided to be a jerk and make working on this page difficult. I honestly quite liked the linework when I sketched it initially. Inking and Coloring it, however, was like pulling teeth. T_T I redid the colors and lines twice trying to figure out what I wasn't liking and in the end I couldn't figure it out. I think this is the longest I'd spent coloring a page? (It's coming up to about 30hrs in total of working JUST on this page. Very irritating.)

As I stare at it I kinda feel like I could have pushed the black harder but I told myself I'm done so… T_T I'm done. No more fussing.

(I'm curious, it's clear who's speaking which lines, right? I'm kinda experimenting still and I'm trying to find a nice balance between readable and artistically pleasing. Also, fun fact, they have different font-types as a show of accent. The colors also kiiiinda have meaning-- technically-- and their dialogue color may shift over time because of that.)

For having a scary man looming over them in a dim room I think Moss is handling all of this rather well. Then again screaming probably attracts predators. Also I feel like I can hear the dialup noises as Moss' poor brain is still dealing with projectile lead poisoning, radiation, and all the other general trauma on top of all of this. Just want to give him a big ol pat on the back and tell em "You're doing great buddy!" 😅….before I send him out on the next bad luck binge…

Anyhowdy I finished this early since, like a fool I decided to 'just stream the lineart' but that turned into five hours later and colors were nearly done too so I 'might as well just finish it'. Perhaps I should give up the notion of pre-sketching the chapter and just let it happen. 🫠

Ok so I haven't finished sketching out all the pages but I got hooked in and finished this ahead of schedule and because I'm incapable of just letting pages build up you get it now. yay!

Also, Boone would make an excellent batman. 10/10 on intimidating presence and lurking capabilities. (was playing once sneaking around and old vault-- rounded a corner to come nose to nose with him and nearly pissed m'self.)

Trying something new with this. I've been admiring an artist (If anyone is curious it's Qwiqwiaqwi on tumblr) and their lines/coloring methods have really pulled me in. I just love the swoopyness and have been attempting to sort of tie in some of the aspects I like to my own style. That and just experimenting in general. Add in that I've noticed doing the lines in a really soft off-black has really softened the images which I dig a buuuunch.

One more page and this chapter is done then we get to bite into the 'meet' (pun) for Boone and Six interacting! FINALLY!

Funny enough I streamed (on twitch) while doing this page (inking and coloring) and it went MUCH faster than I thought it would. Think... five hours? (not including the, like, three hours of sketching the frigging robot originally lol) I'm very proud of how it came out though. Also I have realized that I LIKE robots, they're very cool. However, I do not like DRAWING robots. Which of course means I'm going to make myself do it more often because I'm tweaked that way I guess?

lo siento Manny but I must be mean to you now. Anywho I funked up while doing shadows and the first panel's shadows got turned to 'hard mix' instead of a lazy 'multiply' and I got that very stark result but I liked it so much that I kept it. It really makes that bit pop even if I'm sad to lose all the linework to the black.
