tick , tock . tick , tock . hella doesn’t blink , as long as she can endure the burning sensation - waiting for the time to stop for her . it doesn’t . oh , well . “ you know , ” her voice is calm , an absent-minded look dominating her pale face . “ i don’t think we exist . like . i’m probably not real . but my cat ? she is real . i know that , like , for sure . ” hella rises from the soft cushions , shrugging . “ wouldn’t it be cool to know ? ” clearly amused ( or proud , can’t be sure ) by the intelligent conversation she’s offering , the extended hand stops near the male’s face . bop . she smacks her lips together as hovered finger presses against his pointy nose , a loud giggle filling the distance between them . “ got the idea while i was playing sims - i created us ! we were roommates . until .. until you decided to cook . ” brunette sulks , still giggling . “ needless to say , sims hella is looking for a new roommate , the old one is .. a burnt chicken now . ”
reese doesn’t automatically tune in when hella starts talking --- after being friends with her for a while, he’s learned that he doesn’t always have to pay attention when she’s thinking out loud. brown eyes are glued to the buzzfeed quiz on his phone, he only moves them to the girl’s face when he feels a pressure on the tip of his nose. “ i killed myself in a fire because i tried to cook ? ” he asks, his hand coming up to nudge her finger away from his face. reese is a terrible cook, and something like that doesn’t seem so far off base, so maybe this is the universe’s way of telling him to stop before he dies a tragic, fiery death. or maybe it’s nothing more than hella’s weird ramblings. he’s not great at telling the difference. “ but if you know your cat’s real, and you’re real to your cat, then you have to be real, ” he theorizes, weighing in on her previous train of thought. “ but, no, i don’t think i’d like to know for sure if we’re real or not. my life is pretty great as it is, so i think i’d take the blue pill. ”
