Imagine waking up and feeling the unexpected sensation of headphones tight on your ears.
You don't know how they got there, you certainly didn't fall asleep with them on. You start to reach up to pull them off but something stops you, the audio playing through them. It's a mixture of white noise, a metronome clicking back and forth, and a soft, comforting voice.
The voice is reminding you how nice it was to be asleep just a moment ago. The voice offers you that same relaxation and bliss. You know something strange is going on, someone put these headphones on you but the soft offer and rhythmic clicking convinces you to leave them on for just a moment, just to see where this is going.
The soft voice continues, reminding you that you know exactly what it feels like to feel fuzzy and dumbed down. It reminds you how nice it is. Click, click, click, in the background. Fuzzy and dumb and heavy.
Click, click, click.
You know that if you really wanted to you could reach up and pull off these headphones but for some reason your arms won't move.
Click, click, click.
They feel as if they weigh a thousand pounds. It feels too good to move them, the offer is too enticing. The offer of Fuzziness, dumbing you down, making you heavy and empty.
Click, click, click.
The voice continues leading you down and before you know it your eyes have closed and there is nothing but the sounds from those headphones. Everything goes black.
Click, click, click.
Your eyes open and you look at your clock, hours have passed since you originally woke up. You reach to touch the headphones but they are gone. No trace of them at all. You might even just think it was a very pleasant dream.
You get up and go about your day like normal. It isn't until you get dressed that you realize the figure standing in your room now. A familiar figure, a trusted figure for either obvious reasons or for a reason you can't quite grasp. You open your mouth to speak but before a word can escape the figure presses the clicker in their hand and your jaw drops limply open, your thoughts fade away as your free will and intelligence vanish. They hold
the clicker firmly.
Click, click, click.
Everything goes black.
