two John’s one cup, this is going to be interesting.
I have big regret.
we all have regrets, come sit. stay and discuss what troubles you.
The first thing that troubles me is being your friend. The second thing is being alive in general.
well… damn, I can’t fix either of those because I won’t stop being your friend and being alive is part of the deal. there’s always time to die, but there’s only so much time to live.
Well, the only that will fix you being my friend is a big ol' hug. And maybe a little death practice snuggle time.
is that your way of asking if you can come over and cuddle me while we sleep? because yes, always yes.
No. I was asking you to come over and cuddle me while we sleep.
yeah but my ranch is comfy, you'd love it. i have a fireplace for gay spooning
Fine, only because I want to snuggle by the fireplace.
I also have a faux fur rug in case you was to cuddle naked on that too. ahem, just saying.
Oh, your offer is so sweet. Slide me your addy and I'll pull up.
46.8797° N, 110.3626° W. can’t miss the airstrip at my ranch, it’s best to fly in.
Listen, i may be a pilot, but I'm not a navigator.

John Egan x Hazel Cleven
Another successful mission, meant another night at the club on base. Hazel had chosen this as an opportunity to get dolled up. Since the last few weeks had been rather busy, and none of them had really been able to let loose. She opted for a navy blue dress and a matching pair of heels while leaving her hair down instead of it being slicked back into the bun she wore when in uniform. She applied just a little bit of rouge, lipstick, and two coats of mascara before she decided that she looked good enough.
For her sake, she hoped her brother would at least allow her to have a little bit of harmless fun. She felt she deserved it, especially after the week she'd had. With Harding up her ass to have the paperwork needed for a mission done and thoroughly examined, along with everything else. It was something she disliked, that she had to do twice the work simply because of the fact that she was a woman. But she liked working with her brother and the others on base. Except for the RAF. Those men needed to be taken down a peg or two that was for sure.
The Cleven sibling entered the club, noticing it was already in full swing as she made her way towards the bar to order her first drink for the night. Her blue eyes flittered around the room, noticing those she recognized scattered about. Her brother taking a chair in the corner, Bucky sitting next to him and he looked like he was scheeming. Rosie was dancing to the music, and she arched a brow. Croz had been talking to two higher ups it seemed. She took her drink and made her way towards what her brother and Bucky had claimed as their area. "Well shit, I thought I was early. Didn't realize I was fashionably late." She said as she took a sip of her drink.
Bucky was sitting there, in his ODs, with his best friend Buck, sipping whatever whiskey he could get from the guy manning the bar. He sipped his drink. It was another successful flight for them. He was grateful for having Buck there with him. Her voice captured his attention. He looked over at her. "Well, by God. Don't you clean up well, Cleven."
He took a sip of whiskey. He pushed one of the other two chairs at the table out for her to sit down. "Who are you trying to win over tonight?" He could feel the glare coming from his friend, but choosing to ignore the burning sensation from the staring. He looked over at Buck for a half second to flash a shit eating grin before the attention goes back to Hazel.
He did find her avys nice on her. The way the darkness made her hair pop against the fabric and her eyes were complimented by it. He wouldn't dare speak a word of how she looked in that outfit truly.
"You clean up rather nicely yourself, Egan." She sat down, a matching shit-eating grin on her features as she shrugged her shoulders and places her drink on the table. "It all depends on whether or not that one will allow me to have a bit of fun. If so, it's all about whatever the night tells me." She said, pointing in the direction of her older brother before waving her hand in a general direction. As if to say, it'll be whatever it'll be. Much to her brother's dismay, it seems the flamboyant major seemed to have rubbed off on her a little more than he would've liked.
Her leaving the night up to fate, was usually true, even back home. But the other part had to be her actually doing the work. Work that even if she attempted it, might be politely declined if not for her overly protective brother, their loud best friend might not deem them good enough. To which she felt honored and annoyed at the fact at the same time. She took a sip of her drink, swaying lightly to the music as she tapped her foot to the beat.
The room was already hazy from the cigarette smoke, but it just added to the fun of the night. "I wonder if they're gonna play your song again tonight. If they do you gonna sing?" She arched a brow, a small cheeky smirk appearing as she looked up at him.
He let out a small 'tsk' when she mentioned her older brother. He shook his head in disappointment that his best friend won't let her live her life and have a little fun. There might be one day that they'll be apart and she'll not know how to live because he's kept her locked away, like Cinderella.
Her question had him pondering for a moment before downing the rest of his drink. "Ah, you know, I might not be able to control myself. Once I hear the note, I will be on my feet making a fool of myself and probably the entire 100th." He gave a her small wink before pushing himself back from the table to stand up. "Anyone need a refill?" His words came out as he was already starting to walk away from the table, more preoccupied that he needed a drink more than anyone else.
He got his drink refilled, asking for a little less rocks than whiskey this time. All he heard was "Sure Major." as his drink got filled. He leaned against the bar and looked out at the sea of men and women, drinking and smoking. He glanced over at his drink before grabbing it, taking a quick sip. He walked back to their table. "Where is Buck's dancing partner?" Referring to Meatball over Marge. His joke only landing himself a little laugh.
"I'm sure Meatball will make his entrance eventually. He always saves one dance for Buck." Hazel snickered as she took another sip of her drink. She always nursed her first one, then her other two she would down quickly. It's how it usually went. Her eyes lit up, a mischevious glint in them as the corners of her lips turned upwards into a smirk. Her head tilting to the side and a loose blonde curl fell over her shoulder. "What if I wanted a dance then instead, major? Would you still go up there and sing and leave me hanging?"
Course she was just toying with him. He didn't take it so personally, and even played around back. It was something that made their friendship unique. It made others question how deep their friendship was, whether there was something more hidden underneath or if they were just both naturally flirty and loud. If the latter was the case, then Buck just happened to be the odd one out. But there had to be someone there to keep them in check.
The second lieutenant finished her drink, still tapping her foot to the music, there always being an almost reset each time the somg changed. Especially if it went from a fast one to a slow dance without a mid-tempo track in between.
He chuckled at her response to his little joke. "What a lucky man." he mumbled out. He finished his drink after quickly downing it. He pondered over her question. "You want me to sing while you dance or dance with you?"
They had a questionable friendship, but being loud and flirty was the only thing he knew. Mostly because he would do anything to hide his real emotions. He loved every second of it though.
He managed to have another drink. He was grateful for endless collection of alcohol that they had at base. He was feeling the slow dance music and he was swaying to the music a little bit. His eyes glanced over at Cleven Sister. He nodded his head towards that dance floor as he watched for her reaction. This decision had an alcohol blanket, he would never be so bold like this any other way. "I'll be your Meatball tonight."
Hazel felt a flush dance across her cheeks, and she couldn't blame the alcohol for the reason it was there. No, not yet anyway. The pick up line was cute, and couldn't help the smile that appeared as she stood up and pushed her chair in. Turning to face him, she made her way towards the floor. "C'mon then, John." She said softly, moving a loose curl behind her ear.
The blonde got away with a lot. For starters, being able to call Bucky by his real first name. Not even her brother was allowed to do that. It was another reason why they often got looks if the two were paired up. Other than the fact that they were just chaotic in general. The small woman handling a flare like a man, for starters had some terrified and grateful she didn't have a real one. She held out her hand for him and smiled, pulling her bottom lip between her teeth.
She was thankful for the low light in the club. It disguised her flush just enough, made it less noticeable even up close. She knew her brother's feelings about the two being together. But she often found that John's company was something she looked forward to. Perhaps it was the side of her he brought out.
Before she and Gale met John, she was just as quiet as her brother. Kept her head down, minded her P's and Q's, and yes sir's and ma'ams. But when with John, his energy was contagious. Or maybe he just gave her the courage to take her own power back as a woman. She had every right to be just as loud and flamboyant as he and the other men were at times. Occasionally she made it a point to do so. But other times it was just more natural.
"Yes'um." He said as he got from his spot. He placed his empty cup on the table. He could feel the daggers coming from Buck, but it was easy to ignore. He took her hand in his and lead her over to the dance floor. He pulled her close to him. His other hand moving to rest on her hip. He starts to sway slowly to the beat of the song.
He couldn't hide his big ol' smile as he swayed with her. His mind was racing with a few thoughts. "Everyone is gonna start talkin', we are making the whole base think we are together." His words were a whisper, so only him and her could hear them.
His eyes took a moment to closely take her in. He can see all of her. The slight lighting that he got on her was just enough to notice the slight blush on her face.
"You think they already don't talk like that?" She asked softly, tilting her head to the side slightly as she laced their fingers together. Another bold move coming from the Cleven girl tonight. Course she would overhear the whispers sometimes. Most of the time they were derogatory, and if it weren't for her brother's voice in the back of her head telling her to back down, she would pull a few fights to defend their honor. Maybe they weren't something traditional, but neither of them could really focus on it at the moment with the war on hand.
She followed his lead, the movement of her feet causing her hips to sway just a bit, to the beat of the music. She knew his cheesy grin was part of his signature look, and it suited him. His smaller smile did too, even if it only ever made rare appearances. "You know I meant it when I said you cleaned up rather nicely tonight."
But, she would be a hypocrite if she said wasn't putting up a brave front. One twice as big to not only prove to the others she belonged, but to also prove to her brother she was okay. Truth be told there were days she would be scared shitless, even if she was on the ground. The more information needing to be typed up for record keeping, meant that a mission took a turn for the worse. Which meant that more men weren't coming home. That meant mothers became the mother of a fallen hero, wives became widows, children grew up without their father. If it weren't for her motion sickness being worse than Crosby's, she would be in the air with them. She could become nothing more than just a number, a statistic. A reason for the next round of men and hopefully more women, coming in from basic to try to avenge.
"They talk, I try not to listen. It's always bullshit." He knew most of the times when he would overhear the talk. It was about how great Gale Cleven is and how he is much more qualified to be a major than John Egan. Or how selfish John was because he gave Gale a nickname close to his own. He was not a jealous man. He was a furious man when his character came into question.
He was infatuated with the way her body moved to the slow music. It made it feel like his heart was in his throat. Her words brought him back to Earth, to the ground. He nodded his head. "You know, I meant it too. I say a lot of stuff that would piss Buck off, but that... that was real, sweetheart." He bit down on his tongue after saying 'sweetheart', trying his best to keep his smile and eyes natural even though he was panicking on the inside. He lets out a quiet puff of air. "Thank you. I try. It was between olive and olive that is slightly sun-bleached. And I was thinking, 'John, wear the olive. Maybe Meatball will want to dance with you this time.' But now, I am grateful I wore the olive. You're no Meatball, but at least I don't have to pick dog hair out of my ODs, now."
She giggled softly as one of her hands reached up to brush her fingers through his hair. A few of his curls had fallen loose and she brushed them out of his eyes. That was something she noticed. When it came to their honor, men, they were typically more volatile, and open to fighting of any sort. Whereas women typically fought in other ways when it came to proving their honor.
Except she was different. She remembered one instance at basic when a few southerners decided to try and patronize her. Telling her she should be at home in the kitchen with a babe in hand. That did not settle over her too well. She ended up punching them not realizing their rank or influence. hence why she was stuck at second lieutenant instead of just lieutenant or even major. But it was worth it, they, or others, never said anything like that, at least to her face ever again.
"I know." She said, giving his hand a gentle squeeze as she looked over at him and smiled softly. The flush on her cheeks deepened a few shades as the hand in his hair laid on his shoulder again. "You know it was either navy or red. But I think at least with Navy I wouldn't have Buck fussing over making too much of a statement or attracting the wrong kind."
The simple act of fixing his hair made his heart do somersaults in his stomach. He wanted to lean into the light touch but didn't want to come off as needed for it. She could get away with murder with him, and he would still think she is the most special girl in the world.
"Navy or Red, and you chose Navy?" He shook his head. He would be so weak in the knees and unable to control himself if she wore the red outfit. "Next time, you should wear the red. Forget what other people think about it. Buck can suck it up." He knew the older brother was protective for a reason. They were in a war for Christ's sake, and she never knew who would be next in God's game of chess. "There will always be a next time." He nodded his head confidentally.
