"No, that... That can't be right." Mipha knew Link. She's known him since he was a child, and she knew him as he was now. And, quite honestly... The man before her only vaguely resembled the Link she knew, and he seemed a bit more friendly than her quiet friend. A bit more like the Link she knew when he was a child.
But...maybe she was missing something. She was in an unfamiliar version of Hyrule. Was Link different as well.?? There was a Princess Zelda here as well. Maybe she was different too... Mipha held her lightscale trident close to her, seeming a bit nervous...but she dare not let it show. She was a Champion, after all. "Please, take me to Princess Zelda. I fear something might be very wrong..."
"...?" He looked baffled at how alarmed she was, but he went with it for now. It was easy enough to get through the castle and see if Zelda was available to meet with them.
"Yeah, let's get going," he said with a nod.
"You're a Zora, right? But you look different from the ones over in Zora's Domain. They're... all blue, for one."

Stevie had been on her way to feed the flock, a bucket in her hand. She blinked as she looked up to see Link and his mare and then smiled. She hadn't seen the boy in some time but he was distinct enough to remember.
The cucoos, although keeping a wary eye on the newcomer, converged on Stevie calling for their meal. A goose charged through the flock, its voice only quieting when the girl started to scatter the vegetable scraps and grain on the ground. "Link!" She greeted before giggling at his observation. "They're really good at it."
"I'll bet," he said with a laugh, unhitching Epona and letting her run off into the corral with the other horses. "When I was a kid I... might have messed with cucoos a few times. So I know what they're capable of..."
After that, though, he took a deep breath, a smile on his lips. "This place has hardly changed at all. It's nice to come out here."
@butterflyillusions
Admittedly, this was the first time he'd visited Lon-Lon Ranch since he got back. It wasn't that he didn't want to, but there'd been so much to do. And he was finally reminded when talking to that girl who came wandering into the forest every now and then. Epona probably wanted to visit, too.
But what he wasn't expecting was a whole flock of cucco walking around the place like the Hylian guard.
"...new security?"
“Ah! Princess Zelda!!” Topaz hues widened at the mention of the familiar name. So the princess was here..!! That’s good. Zelda must know what happened to make Hyrule seem so different… Perhaps it wasn’t just Mipha. Maybe everyone was here and it was Hyrule that changed… Could it be due to the Calamity.??
“Please, do take me to Princess Zelda! She and I are good friends. I am sure she can explain what has occurred.” Mipha paused, a thought occurring to her. “Oh… If Princess Zelda is here… What of the princess’s appointed knight, Link? Is he nearby..?? Is he well..??”
Link was actually completely used to people not recognizing him. After all, in this timeline, he'd warned Zelda about Ganon and pretty much ran for it- something that he sometimes wondered if he should've done, but...
Well, that was a thought for another time.
"That would be me. 'Appointed knight' is a little far, though..." He added a laugh to the end of it. "They keep asking me to join the knights, but that would mean staying around here every day, which sounds boring."
Mipha didn't know where she was. It seemed like Hyrule in many ways, but...oddly enough, a bit smaller. She opened her eyes in a grassy terrain and saw a castle in the distance, one that vaguely resembled the one she was familiar with. So, she went to it, and was able to cross the field in rather surprising time. Now, she was a true fish out of the water... Mipha wasn't blind to the eyes staring at her...
The Zora princess glanced up when she was addressed by the green-clad Hylian. Blond hair, blue eyes...but that wasn't too surprising. Mipha had met a surprising number of blond and blue-eyed Hylians in her life. "A-Ah, yes... Please, I would appreciate that assistance. This is Hyrule, yes.? May I speak to the royal family? I fear that I am unfamiliar with where I am, yet this place still seems quite familiar.." She sighed and shook her head. "Goodness, I must sound quite mad..."
Definitely not the weirdest thing he'd ever encountered in his journey. But he wasn't going to say too much about it for now. Instead, he nodded.
"Princess Zelda is pretty open to guests," he said. "No idea what she's up to right now, but even if she has a meeting, she'll probably be happy to see you afterwards." A pause, and then, "This was definitely Hyrule, last time I checked. You're lost, I'm guessing?"
@crownshattered for Mipha
"Huh..." He'd heard soldiers in the market talking about a Zora that had just wandered down the road to the castle. The road itself was completely open to visitors; it was if they tried to get into the castle itself that they'd be stopped.
And really, a Zora wandering around here wasn't that unusual. When he came back to Hyrule, it was to the Zora and Goron having a much better relationship with the royal family.
But he'd only ever seen blue Zora. And this one was a very obvious shade of red. And looked rather distressed. When it became obvious the guards on patrol were ignoring her, he finally stepped around the corner he'd been observing her from.
"...did you need to see someone at the castle?"
((Anyway, have a starter call.))

“I’m right here. I’m not leaving you, alright?”
“Look at me.”
“You’re hurt, you need to sit down.”
“You’re bleeding.”
“It’s just a flesh wound.”
“I’m fine, stop worrying so much.”
“You need to rest.”
“I’ll rest when I’m dead. Let’s go.”
“Hey, stay with me.”
“Woah, steady.”
“You’re shaking.”
“I can hear your heartbeat from here.”
“I can feel your heartbeat.”
“Count to ten for me, and then backwards to one.”
“Can you hear me?”
“Just focus on my heartbeat, okay?”
“Nothing is gonna hurt you now.”
“Let me take a look at that wound.”
“Take a few deep breaths, it’ll help lower your heart rate and calm your body down a bit.”
“Match your breathing with mine. You can do it.”
“You’re hurt, I’m not leaving you.”
“Just leave me.”
“I’ll be okay, just go.”
“Your heartbeat is so loud.”
“Can you just…hold me?”
“I won’t let go.”
“I know you’re scared, but you’re gonna have to let me go so I can stop you from bleeding out.”
“You’re not dying. I’m not gonna let you.”

“No, no! Open your eyes!”

"A relic of the royal family.??" Why did he have it, then?? Princess Zelda didn't have a brother, as far as Kira was concerned. Now that Kira thought about it, his attire was rather strange... Clad in green? It kind of reminded her of the stories of those forest children, the Kokiri. But he was grown up, so he obviously couldn't be one of them.
Out of curiosity, Kira stepped closer. "An ocarina with magical properties.?? That sounds very interesting." She wondered how much the Great Fairies knew about this... "Oh no, I'm not one of the castle staff. I'm just a knight in training, but when I'm not training, I like going into the gardens." She paused as a sheepish expression crossed her face. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to bother you..."
"Uh, yeah, the princess gave it to me. She can vouch for me if it's ever needed." Not that it was these days. The castle staff had mostly gotten used to seeing that random guy in green.
Finally, he put the ocarina away and stood, stretching his back and arms. He'd been sitting for a while before this woman found him.
"My name's Link. I actually came to see the princess but... she's busy! Like she is a lot these days."
@cryoexorcist sent a meme:
❛ did you hurt yourself? ❜
"I'm fine," he said with a laugh, although he flinched as he moved his arm. Despite the pain, though, he of course didn't regret saving the stranger from the pack of Stalchildren. "You should probably be careful. This area isn't really safe at night." As demonstrated by the pack of sentient skeletons that had tried to destroy them both.
