hiii yes, I remember the plethora of side blogs you've got :D

With #1, a lot of things are still up in the air. Originally, I planned for it to be multichapter, with a similar structure to "touch and go" (multiple POVs, sequential, etc.), but I don't want to overcommit. So it might end up being a long one-shot. Idk :D Here's a snippet:

“We totally would’ve dated in high school.” Frank snorted. “No, we wouldn’t.” “Come on,” Shen nudged his shoulder. “A jock and a nerd? Written in the stars.” “I wasn’t a jock.” Shen gave him a look. “You were absolutely a jock.” “No,” Frank shook his head, a faint smile tugging at his mouth. “Not until senior year. at least” “Alright,” Shen said, shifting a little so he was half-facing him. “Let me set the scene. You grew up in the suburbs, right?” Frank huffed. “My high school wasn’t exactly a great setting for a two-guy meet-cute, if that’s what you’re going for. Maybe yours was better. Blue state and all that.” “Mm, clearly,” Shen said, a hint of a grin returning. “You would've loved it there. Especially our football team. Best thing that ever happened to Russel.” Frank let out a quiet laugh, but it faltered almost immediately, something in the name catching. “…Russel?” Shen hummed, not quite noticing the shift yet. Frank’s brow furrowed as he turned it over. “Wait. Russel High?” Another small nod. “That was-” he hesitated, searching for the year, for the headline he half-remembered. “Wasn’t there a shooting there? Around 2012? 2013?” The air changed. "There was," Shen finally said. "In March 2012."

I think I'd like to know more about Frank's Bad Pain Day. I think I've seen you mention that he didn't want to ruin his and John's plans, so he tried to hide it? But eventually John finds out, doesn't he? How does that happen? Or. Anything else about this fic, pleeese. :)

This fic is a mashup of two things I've really been wanting to write lately - Frank and Mel (and Shen) going to the Ren Fair together and the kind of low-stakes whumpy one-shots I've had so much fun writing last year. I do consider it something of a warmup piece (as I've had a bit *ekhm months* of a break from writing and want to get back to it.

I don't want to reveal too much, just to keep you on your toes :) but yes, Frank will definitely try to hide it, and Shen will have none of it. Will they go? Will they not go? We'll see. For now, have a snippet:

“Ye doubt me, do ye? A tragic lack of vision, Mr. Frank.” “No,” he said, trying not to smile. “No, we’re not doing this.” Shen turned toward him, fully committed now. “I’ve sailed the seven seas, and yet I’ve never encountered such disrespect.” “You live in Pittsburgh.” “Aye, a cruel and unforgiving port.” Frank pressed his lips together, trying, failing, and rather miserably. not to laugh. “If you start saying ‘aye’ in public, I’m leaving you there.” “Mutiny already?” Shen said, mock-offended. “And we haven’t even set sail.”

Thank you so so much! This is so incredibly sweet. I love Frank and Shen so much and I poured a lot of that into focal point. On top of that, it was a hugely emotional story for me to write, and a very indulgent one (as all fics should be). It makes me incredibly happy that it hit for so many people and that it’s something worth rereading.

Good that you’ve pointed out the exact opposite than the other anon :D as I said, I think I’d like to start with something lighter before moving on to option 3. I feel that the Bad Pain Day Power Thru would be the best warm up option and more in line with the whumpy one shots I was writing tons of last year. These are fun and no pressure, so definitely a good place to pick writing back up. Thank you for all the support and kind words, you don’t even know how much I appreciate them :) it’s the best fuel to keep writing, especially when I’m feeling like I’ve lost that spark

Ahhh thank you! I don’t know when the inspiration will come, perhaps I’ll write a one shot to warm up before moving on to the Shen backstory one, but we will see what the writing muse brings :)

Thanks for the nudge. To be fair, I haven’t felt too inspired to write anything when s2 was airing, but I do have some whumpy drafts on various stages of completion. These include:

1. Frank throwing himself into marathon training straight after rehab and getting a reality check. Coincidentally, Santos is training for the same marathon. More fluffy than angsty, but you know me - there needs to be some h/c sprinkled on top.

2. A Shendon prompt I got waaaaay back about Frank trying to push through a Bad Pain Day because it’s their only day off and they had Plans and Shen having none of it.

3. A longer fic adjacent to Focal Point, exploring a headcanon I have for Shen that he’s a school shooting survivor. Also Langdon h/c 👀

So yeah. I do have plans (on top of continuing On Track, which is still waiting for the right moment), but very low motivation/inspiration to write anything. But do let me know whether any of these have caught your interest.
