currently watching: I'm kind of in between shows right now. I recently finished s3 of The Legend of Vox Machina (actually started s4 after a long hiatus and realized I hadn't seen s3 after all, so had to backtrack). Other than that, watched the first two episodes of Silo and likely will continue. Gave Law & Order: SVU a shot, but I think I need to start a little further than s1 to really enjoy it (or might just go back to early seasons of Criminal Minds, since that's the feeling I'm chasing, as one does)

currently reading: I'm about halfway through Heroes by Joe Abercrombie and recently picked up There is No Antimemetics Division by qntm. Need to pick up the pace, though; I'm terribly behind my reading goal ;)

current obsession: none, unfortunately :c Once I'm done with Vox Machina I'm planning to watch some actual Critical Role (Campaign 4), there's some hyperfixation potential here.

currently working on: One of the longest pieces of writing I've (almost) completed was a The Witcher RP I wrote with a friend back in 2020. I've been thinking about editing it and putting it out there for years, but maybe now's the time? It's 80k+ and has some awesome moments I'm really proud of

last search: salary range for my current job lmao

favourite flowers: I like flowers in general, but I never thought about which is my favourite. I have a bergamot tattoo and some lilies, so maybe these?

Weight loss was eighty percent nutrition, twenty percent exercise. The exercise part he already had, mapped out in neat pen-and-paper grids because he trusted that more than any app. Running five days a week. Swimming six. With just enough wiggle room to add more if things got “out of hand”. Which, of course, they wouldn’t. Not if he kept control. Not if he stayed on top of it.

When old habits start to resurface, Frank does what he does best. He runs.

With #1, a lot of things are still up in the air. Originally, I planned for it to be multichapter, with a similar structure to "touch and go" (multiple POVs, sequential, etc.), but I don't want to overcommit. So it might end up being a long one-shot. Idk :D Here's a snippet:

“We totally would’ve dated in high school.” Frank snorted. “No, we wouldn’t.” “Come on,” Shen nudged his shoulder. “A jock and a nerd? Written in the stars.” “I wasn’t a jock.” Shen gave him a look. “You were absolutely a jock.” “No,” Frank shook his head, a faint smile tugging at his mouth. “Not until senior year. at least” “Alright,” Shen said, shifting a little so he was half-facing him. “Let me set the scene. You grew up in the suburbs, right?” Frank huffed. “My high school wasn’t exactly a great setting for a two-guy meet-cute, if that’s what you’re going for. Maybe yours was better. Blue state and all that.” “Mm, clearly,” Shen said, a hint of a grin returning. “You would've loved it there. Especially our football team. Best thing that ever happened to Russel.” Frank let out a quiet laugh, but it faltered almost immediately, something in the name catching. “…Russel?” Shen hummed, not quite noticing the shift yet. Frank’s brow furrowed as he turned it over. “Wait. Russel High?” Another small nod. “That was-” he hesitated, searching for the year, for the headline he half-remembered. “Wasn’t there a shooting there? Around 2012? 2013?” The air changed. "There was," Shen finally said. "In March 2012."

I think I'd like to know more about Frank's Bad Pain Day. I think I've seen you mention that he didn't want to ruin his and John's plans, so he tried to hide it? But eventually John finds out, doesn't he? How does that happen? Or. Anything else about this fic, pleeese. :)

This fic is a mashup of two things I've really been wanting to write lately - Frank and Mel (and Shen) going to the Ren Fair together and the kind of low-stakes whumpy one-shots I've had so much fun writing last year. I do consider it something of a warmup piece (as I've had a bit *ekhm months* of a break from writing and want to get back to it.

I don't want to reveal too much, just to keep you on your toes :) but yes, Frank will definitely try to hide it, and Shen will have none of it. Will they go? Will they not go? We'll see. For now, have a snippet:

“Ye doubt me, do ye? A tragic lack of vision, Mr. Frank.” “No,” he said, trying not to smile. “No, we’re not doing this.” Shen turned toward him, fully committed now. “I’ve sailed the seven seas, and yet I’ve never encountered such disrespect.” “You live in Pittsburgh.” “Aye, a cruel and unforgiving port.” Frank pressed his lips together, trying, failing, and rather miserably. not to laugh. “If you start saying ‘aye’ in public, I’m leaving you there.” “Mutiny already?” Shen said, mock-offended. “And we haven’t even set sail.”

Thank you so so much! This is so incredibly sweet. I love Frank and Shen so much and I poured a lot of that into focal point. On top of that, it was a hugely emotional story for me to write, and a very indulgent one (as all fics should be). It makes me incredibly happy that it hit for so many people and that it’s something worth rereading.

Good that you’ve pointed out the exact opposite than the other anon :D as I said, I think I’d like to start with something lighter before moving on to option 3. I feel that the Bad Pain Day Power Thru would be the best warm up option and more in line with the whumpy one shots I was writing tons of last year. These are fun and no pressure, so definitely a good place to pick writing back up. Thank you for all the support and kind words, you don’t even know how much I appreciate them :) it’s the best fuel to keep writing, especially when I’m feeling like I’ve lost that spark
