okay so how does Albus and Gellert's dynamic work out if they become Dark Lords together? It's implied the World Takeover thing is Gellert's idea but Albus is the more powerful one of the two.
Who gets to collect the Hallows? Do they split them? How do they decide who becomes 'Master of Death'?
Does Albus, the more idealistic and beneficient one, rein Gellert in, or does he become disillusioned with Gellert's methods and intentions and start to feel stuck? Or is Albus so corrupted by power that he forgets his ideals?
So many questions...
I think he will stride Gellert revolution in more of under table way. Hidden yet affective political moves that will change the wizard society perception without it being too violent or too obvious. Not being the one having the visions himself, I think he would be less passionate about convincing people, and more about practical, slow domestic change. I think it would gave him an excuse to explore more of his inner desires like power. But I still think he will be open to question himself and Gellert's methods or ideas, but not in a way he would leave the cause. In short, I think in the version where Albus joins Gellert, it's more of chill, ministry friendly (however in questionable way) approach.
That's just my interpretation. Not because I see Albus as purely good, but more of I think Albus will choose the most practical long- term, least problematic and socially appropriate -that will keep him in positive light-approach (and the way easier one.)
Why? Because Albus working hard to erase the way they saw his father as brutal manic in Hogwarts. And turn everyone to think of him as this successful brilliant kid.
Gellert is that boy who smiles at other ppl's pain, but with Albus he's clingy, always in Albus's personal space, holding his hand, touching his hair and he didn't even know he's capable of such love.
No one can confess me otherwise
Gellert sneaking into Albus's room in the middle of the night, waking him because he had a new idea
I wanna to see grindeldore meet as enemies to lovers.
Egotistic boys but lonely souls seeking connection
“I suppose at one time in my life I might have had any number of stories, but now there is no other. This is the only story I will ever be able to tell.”
- Donna Tartt, The Secret History
GGAD personal headcanons
The reason Gellert is possessive because deep down he's insecure about himself in the relationship, because he knows he will never meet or love someone like Albus. Because it's so rare to him, he treasure their bond to the point of appearing insecure.
When they argue, it's Gellert who start it but he catches himself and be the first to compromise and retreat.
The met multiple times beween the 1899 Summer and fantastic beasts events. Like many times.
Albus likes Gellert's curly hair and he always offer to help Gellert style it. (Gellert likes Albus's hair too)
Gellert likes Albus's beard, he likes all of Albus's style, wizard style-muggle style. His flamboyant style is one of the things he was attracted to in Albus when they first met
They are the same height. (Sorry not sorry haha)
Albus also gets "jealous" through very rarely. But Gellert has always attracted attention from other people because of his looks and charming personality. Sometimes it annoys Albus but he doesn't show it.
I never saw GGAD fitting the enemies to lovers trope (enemies from start, not after they part ways). I always thought they would like each other immediately since it was rare for the both of them to have that connection.
But now I need them to have that sweet hate but secretly falling for the other, with power dynamic that switches all of the time. I wanna them to be ignorant and so very desperate for love and being understood
Toby and Jamie look great but I can't get over Albus's waist length red hair and Gellert's shoulder length hair
Gellert gives me "would you love me if I wear a worm?" Type lover energy
I love reading their interactions (and imagining them in wizard clothes)
This scene did such a good job of establishing their dynamic for the rest of movie.
Albus voluntarily gives Gellert the power to hurt him in this moment; to hurt him in a purely emotional way that would not have impacted either of their abilities to move forward with their conflicting plans.
And Gellert makes a choice not to hurt Albus. In fact, Gellert’s own words imply a sense of betrayal and abandonment.
Albus is denying something in this moment as much as he is confessing something. He’s denying the monster inside of himself. Gellert won’t accept that denial, because no one knows the monster inside of Albus Dumbledore better than Gellert Grindelwald. (Or so he thinks. I think Harry Potter and Newt Scamander could have a fascinating and nuanced conversation about it; Severus Snape might also have Thoughts; anyway, no one’s a bigger fan of the monster inside of Albus Dumbledore than Gellert Grindelwald is.)
My understanding of Gellert's jealousy is that for him no one hold a candle to Albus.
I feel like all of his life he didn't have people he was close to or cared to be close to anyone.
And finally when he mets someone on his level and falls in love with him, shares his vision and goals with him. I think he becomes too attached to Albus.
If Albus left him what will his chances be to find somone like him? Some on top of all that loves him deeply as well. He becames insecure bec of how much he fears Albus leaving him. He gets angry when Abe tries to prevent them from leaving together
His mood changes when Albus suggested breaking the pact, when Albus leaves him after their duel in FB3 he tells him who will love him now. I'm sure Gellert was projecting his own pain, wondering instead "who will love me now"
I literally think Grindelwald’s jealousy and insecurity is what led to their fallout because it led to him overreacting to Aberforth threatening their plans to run off together with Ariana. I think had they stayed together, he would have eventually mellowed out in his views with Albus’ guidance. He’s a mess.
How I see Gellert x Albus characters in few words
Gellert : handsome, seductive, mischievous, smile, charming, jealousy, brave
Albus : manipulative, aloof, affectionate, romantic , social, monalisa smile, witty, leader
I love reading their interactions (and imagining them in wizard clothes)

I think I'm going to leave this here too hehe
Yes this me wanting more fantastic beasts content so I could see ppl come to this fandom and write better content for grindeldore
They butchered Gellert’s personality and watered down his relationship with Albus right from the start.
Also the guy was depicted as always chuckling or laughing in nearly every scene we see of him in Deathly Hallows.
Just wanna add the time he stole the wand from Gregorovitch:
Just before the guy died:
