Don't Cry Yet by Valoscope
Medic couldnât suppress a laugh. Mundy was a man with nothing to lose. Heâd said as much when heâd come to. That made him dangerous. He would do anything within his power to finish the job heâd been brought in to do.Â
But Bea wasnât considering Mundy a threat and Medic wasnât going to bother warning her. She wasnât likely to believe him even if he had the heart to do it. If she wanted death, sheâd get it.
âGiven enough time I could potentially âresurrectâ ashes. It vould involve a little experimentation in cloningâŚâ
His laugh was the last straw. As he mused over doing exactly what she had told him he couldnât, she growled, drew a fist back, and lurched forward, slightly off balance in her attack, and cracked him right in the side of the jaw as hard as she could.
She had had more than enough.
âYou think,â she huffed, slightly hunched as she recovered her posture from the sudden swing, âthis is all a joke, donât you? That this is some playtime in which you can make things for your whims?â
She looked to the left, where a tray of bloodied surgical implements sat. Straightening up, but still wheezing a little, she reached over, and took a scalpel. It paled in comparison to her power drill, but one used what one got.
Clutching it tightly, she glared in silence at Medic. Her response to further idiocy to come had been made clear, she hoped.
Bea had finally had enough of Medic. She shoved him and the doctor went stumbling backwards and eventually fell, unable to catch himself. Then Bea proceeded to insult him some more and added a jab at Archimedes while she was at it.
âArchimedes does talk back,â Medic argued, moving to get back on his feet. âI just cannot understand everysing he says. Talking to him is no different zhan somevhan talking to zheir dog or cat.â
This woman still wasnât getting it and at this rate, she never would. She thought he was out more than a few marbles just like so many others had before her. A shame.Medic finally stood and brushed his coat off and straightened it.
Both parties thought the same about the other at present. While Medic saw Bea as narrow minded, she saw him as stuck in his own metal bubble.
She scoffed viciously. âThis is not about your stinking bird!â she spat, glaring at him as he returned to his feet and sorted his coat as though nothing had happened. True, she had mentioned him, but for him to so casually switch the tracks of the conversation to his bird? Bea was gritting her teeth again.
âI am going to find this man. And I am going to personally kill him again. And you will stay here, and consider the impossibility of resurrecting ashes!â
âDespicable, perhaps,â Medic conceded. What heâd done was a crime against nature, sure, but it was fascinating. It was a shame that Bea couldnât see that. âBut you have to admit it is miraculous zhat he can be alive after having been dead for a vhile.âÂ
Beaâs patience splintered.
With a sudden, frustrated grunt, she pulled him forward further to throw his balance, then shoved him backward like an angry bull, charging at someone not quick enough to get away.
âGet your head out of the clouds, you quack! Heavy was right about you. We should have never hired you. All youâve done is waste our time, and talk to your stupid bird like he can talk back!â
Breathing heavy, and slightly wheezy, Bea stepped back, curling her hands in and out of fists.
Work spouses.
Bea seems like someone whoâd chill and bullshit around with Cheavy. Chillinâ with a stogie.
Bea was right. Bringing Mundy back was morally wrong on many levels. That Medic had brought him back from the dead was arguably worse than cheating death via medi-gun or even via respawn. But heâd done it regardless, both to test his limits and to bring an old friend back, a man that would be of great help in the very near futureâŚÂ
âI really sink youâre looking at zhis all wrong,â Medic countered.
He was so proud, so wrapped up in his âachievementâ. So much so that he had the gall to suggest that she had the wrong end of the stick?
Her hand clenched into a fist, then whipped open again, and forward, seizing one of the Medicâs lapels. âYou,â she told him forcefully, âare stark, raving mad! I am looking at it all wrong?! You committed an atrocity, and are too involved in your own insanity that you canât see that what you did is despicable!â
It was slightly a case of pot calling kettle black, given that she was an accessory to murder in this scenario - and had killed so many in her career as a Pyro anyway - but she was much too furious to count her hypocrisy.
This one has been stuck in my mind for a while, since the first time Iâve read the new chapterâŚ. I shipped them too much ç_ç I was so sad for Beaâs death, it struck me hard XD
âA little over a quarter of a million dollars,â Medic answered, blinking innocently.
âI sink youâre missing zhe important part of all zhis: zhe fact zhat Mundy was very dead und should have been beyond saving. Vhat I accomplished is nahsing short of groundbreaking!â
Beaâs eye twitched, and she stared at him with utter disbelief.
Her silence subsided, and she gritted her teeth. âYou are a clever man,â she told him tensely. âBut perhaps too clever for your own good. What you did today is no triumph. It is a freakish experiment, a crime against nature. What is dead should be dead! Just because you are intelligent, this doesnât mean you arenât simultaneously a fool.â
@zhat-medic
âYou sunk how much into reviving the man we killed?â Bea growled, jabbing a gloved finger at Medicâs chest.

âLook at you, dear,â Bea sighed. âSuch a pretty one. You remind me of myself, when I was younger, if you can believe such things.â
âWell I never doubt another lady when it comes to how they say they use to look.â Nia replied, her fingers itching to get around either her gun or knife. She knew who the lady was and the fact she was seen so easy made her just a hair nervous.
âYou look tense,â Bea observed, showing subtle amusement at this fact. âI do hope Iâm not making you uncomfortable.â Of course, she knew she was, and was quietly enjoying the fact.
