“Warning: systems malfunction. Engines failing. Crash inevitable.”
“WHAT!? How can this BE?!”
“Running systems scan. There appears to be a blockage.”
“A blockage? What is it?! Tell meeee!”
“Further scans indicate it is some kind of food.”
GIR, a small silver and blue robot, looked up at his Irken master, Zim, with wide, unblinking eyes. “Thems are my taquitoooos!”
Zim ground his teeth and growled in frustration. “GIR! Why are there taquitos in the engines!?!?”
"I was hiding them from the mongoose!” The robot stuck his tongue out of his mouth and his eyes turned into crescents as he grinned.
Zim facepalmed. It was typical of GIR to do things like that, but that didn’t make it any less frustrating. As good a servant as he was, GIR often caused Zim quite a lot of trouble. Taquitos in the engine was just one more thing on a long list of things he’d done that had caused a mission to go wrong.
The computer spoke again and Zim looked back up. “Engines are shutting down. Core temperature has exceeded the maximum limit.”
The roaring of the engines died off and the Voot Cruiser began sinking out of the sky at an alarming rate.
“Nooo! Nooo!” Zim shrieked. He furiously prodded the controls, trying to make the ship go through a cold restart. Seconds passed and nothing happened, which prompted Zim to start screaming. GIR joined in too with his own ear-splitting squeal.
The Voot Cruiser slammed into the ground and Zim and GIR were tossed into the windshield. Sand rose in a plume of dust and scattered into the air, eventually coming to rest over top the ship like a semi-transparent blanket. But only GIR got to see that.
Lying unconscious in the pilot’s seat, limbs akimbo, was Zim.
A recap, in brief: Emmett returns to Tufort to return a stowaway dove to it’s owner, the RED Medic. Once there, he is persuaded to give a firsthand demonstration of the time machine, taking them both 40 years into the future. Though the base in this time appeared at first to be abandoned, the two travelers are soon watched and followed by an unknown person with unknown intent.
@zhat-medic
Emmett listened as Medic described just who might be after them. The answer seemed honest... Medic’s tone clear and serious... It took a second for reason to snap in.
What the hell kind of mining were they doing out here? If that was what they were doing... Suddenly he wasn’t quite so sure. There’d certainly been something off about this place... But perhaps it was only some kind of local feud? It was possible... Possibly... He decided it’d be wisest not to press the issue at the moment, considering where they currently were.
The key worked. That should be some kind of a good sign, shouldn’t it? He’d been about to follow Medic through the door, when a voice caused him to jump about a mile.
After a second trying to place the face and the voice, Emmett realized he simply couldn’t. Though the accent was-...
He turned to look at Medic, trying to get a read on his stance. The doctor seemed unhelpfully dumbfounded. His eyes widened a little, then flicked back to the newcomer, then back and back again.
His shoulders dropped a little as he put his hands up.

TF2 30 Day Drawing Challenge
Day 18: What will kill Soldier first: Rabies or lead poisoning? Place your bets now!
This is a quick drawing for my awesome RP-partner @zhat-medic. I hope you like it, buddy! :D
I have been meaning to draw something for you for a while. Initially I wanted to wait till the story progressed further, but now I decided to finish it sooner because I thought maybe this would cheer you up a bit. :) What you can see here is what I thought would probably happen sooner or later: Heavy helping his doctor pal with a new poison and then probably ending up as the lab rat lol.
