UMBRYX - LIFE STAGE 3 - "ADULT"

"ADOLESCENT" <- "ADULT"

Now at their adult stage, wild Umbryx are often malevolent creatures that hunt for sport rather than for food. The remains of those unfortunate enough to be caught in the carnage usually end up as food for the adolescents and sluggers.

Their levitation is now fully developed, and it is their primary way of moving. They are capable of moving at great speeds, to the point prey oftentimes will not see them coming. They are also able to go invisible for short periods of time.

Umbryx are the most feared predator in the Nexus Veil region, as they are unafraid of taking down creatures several times their size, and are not picky about the creatures they go after. They will even go after Yuu who come too close to their domain to research them.

Umbryx closely resemble sea slugs, sharks, and felines, though they are in fact none of these things. Umbryx act similar to insects and arachnids, especially like spiders, bees, and wasps in the sense that they cover their domain in thick webbing and the nests that hold their offspring are often similar to hive cells.

UMBRYX - LIFE STAGE 2 - "ADOLESCENT"

"EGG" <- "ADOLESCENT" -> "ADULT"

As adolescents, Umbryx begin weaning off of the flesh of carcasses and begin to feed on the emotions and souls of those unfortunate enough to get close to them. Their powers begin to develop, allowing them to instill fear in creatures much bigger than them, and allowing them to begin to levitate their bodies for short periods of time.

Adolescent Umbryx can at this stage be caught and trained into being benevolent pets, feeding only on negativity of it's master, though it is not advised to attempt to catch them, as their parents are usually nearby.

They are often taught to take down prey on their own at this point, following the adults of the hive around to learn how to hunt for prey.

Adolescent Umbryx are very playful and curious, which often leads to them getting a bit too curious about their younger siblings. Curiosity killed the Umbryx, as they say, as curiosity about their younger siblings can lead them to cannibalize Umbryx eggs, hoping for a quick and easy snack.

UMBRYX - LIFE STAGE 1 - "EGG"

"EGG" -> "ADOLESCENT"

When in the egg, the Umbryx are helpless and squishy. 3 inches in diameter upon the egg's first few days, they are one of the smallest baby creatures in the Nexus Veil realm.

Blind and deaf even upon hatching, sluggers are forced to rely on their older siblings and parents for survival. Most Umbryx sluggers do not survive until the adolescent stage due to the adolescents getting curious and wanting a quick snack.

They lack the ability to levitate and often cannot escape larger predators because of this.
