how many tiktok therians do i have to see making those "YOU CANT BECOME THERIAN" and correct before they get it through their heads? the exclusion of beans who are otherlink/copinglink and the refusal to educate people who are most likely just undereducated on the topic of alterhumanity is honestly so frustrating. we as therians should be educating people on proper terms, not condemning them for getting things wrong
on a similar note, the amount of videos ive seen of kids who are saying things like "therians keep telling me you cant choose but you can choose and i choose to be [insert animal]" is frustrating. not because they're choosing to adopt an animal identity but because they ignore any correction, saying that choice makes you otherlink, not therian. and these types of videos are only getting more popular, which is only spreading misinformation, which in turn harms our community
but somehow people think that shouting at these kids that you cant choose is going to help anything? i promise you it wont. the amount of times ive gently corrected kids on the terminology theyre using and gotten "oh sorry i didnt know" rather than the usual "fuck this, im still a therian even if i chose my identity" is incredible. its amazing how much farther gentle correction goes than yelling at them
so yes, i am frustrated by the amount of misinformation and sometimes blatant refusal to use the right terminology, but im also frustrated by the aggression of the people who think they're helping fix the problem. but just because im frustrated, that doesn't ever mean im going to yell at them for it. they're just kids, man. doing shit like that isn't going to help the therian community's already poor reputation online
gentle correction and spreading around the CORRECT information will, in the long run, help much more than simply and quite rudely telling people off
