Unpopular Opinion: EdWin is a ship that was shoved in our faces from episode 20 on and I got turned off by it. Plus, it always seemed they had more of a sibling type relationship to me. I’m disappointed they made it canon.

I know EdWin is canon and all but I didn’t like it back when I watched the series and I still don’t like it now. I always preferred Ed with Ling instead of Winry.

I often get asked why I like Edward Elric so much

There are a lot of reasons why but I’ll just start with the usual one.

He is much different than a traditional shounen protagonist. Normally, they are the characters who are not the brightest at first but along they end up turning into the most powerful of the their subgenre in the end. Edward is different in that regard. He is a progidy of alchemy. He’s not the strongest, it’s his knowledge that makes him stand out.

I get so annoyed whenever I see that Edward is a basic shounen protagonist. He isn’t. He hardly is. Edward Elric is the best and you can fight me on that.
