Time and Patience.
Kell16 here! Iām back to give my thoughts on the past few months, as well as create some semblance of consistency with our website.
I want to start by saying Rest in Peace, Nipsey Hussle. His death is a blow to our culture, his coast, his family, and history itself. It took me until today to gather my thoughts and try to articulate myself in a quick, yet meaningful way. I never want to be too wordy with these blog posts. I like giving you all a screen door to my mind and an inside look into Neon Vice. I know that there are times that you might log on and see the site barren with the same information, Iām working on that though!
The response to Why Her has been amazing! We love you all back and will continue to build off of the love that you've all shown us and continue to show us.
Smoove and I are working hard on our setlist for our show on September 7th at The Auricle in Canton, Ohio. Itās our first show, so we want to deliver something special to give our fans and first time listeners a look into what a live Vice show will be for many years to come.
Again, our Why Her EP is out now. We have yet to have our first performance, and Iām learning the process of having patience amidst the quiet times. There are things that Iām working on that will satisfy my creative mind that I am solely in control of. These things are Kell16 only and will be revealed in time. When it comes to Neon Vice, there are things that are tied directly to hard work, and then things that are tied directly to time and patience. Smoove and myself are blessed to have people in our corner that are willing to work with us to help us get interviews done, shows organized, and new music recorded. Learning to let things breathe after the work is done is important, but Iām telling all who are reading this that if you feel like you can do more, do it. The harder you work, the less you wait. Its vital that we make sure the vision with Neon Vice, as well as The Joy at Reservoir Park imprint, is a clear, concise, and strong vision. The biggest challenge for me has been waiting. We donāt just make tracks just to make tracks. Rehearsal time, studio time, and content posting all have a purpose centered around patience. If I would have had it my way, Why Her would have been released in January of this year, waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy before it was polished and ready. Smoove is learning our music and getting more acquainted with the intricacies of a performance. Iām watching him add another facet to his game that will help to elevate Neon Vice to heights that we canāt see right now, due to the work, time, and patience required.
Our first show is lined up for September 7th
New music is coming. Until then, keep spinning Why Her and enjoying the colors. We love yaāll.
