Hey. If you ever find yourself completely losing your passion in art, if you ever forget why you liked art in the first place, if art becomes a complete and utter chore for you, don't quit. Here's what you fuckin' do. Put the markers away. Start consuming. Rediscover, and start from scratch. Let loose and stop thinking altogether. Draw something absolutely horrid. Make really bad art that you hate. Draw your favourite character as a three-headed snail or some weird shit like that. Make weird things. Scribble. Splatter. Create nonsense. Waste a ton of paint. Draw everything. Draw it shittily. Do it all in less than 5 minutes. The truth is, creativity is a weird wild ugly beautiful organized disorganized up and down left and right in and out mess. AND THAT'S WHY IT'S SO FUCKIN FUN Let it flow, don't try and polish it. Perfectionism kills creativity. Don't give up, just let yourself be sucky. I believe in you. <3

Gamers, grannies, I ain't gonna lie, art is hard as shit. Art block and creative bankruptcy aside, finding inspiration is a whole skill in and of itself. I think inspiration is in everything around you - you just need to pay attention. Be aware. In fact, think the most compelling pieces of art come from something completely and utterly mundane. It takes a special kind of worldview to become a truly phenomenal artist... which is the main reason why art is difficult. Art isn't really anything without inspiration but inspiration isn't really something that you can buy or hunt for. If you go out of your way to make things that you think should be inspiring you, art loses a lot of it's joy. I dunno, I guess sometimes I just feel like my artistic ambitions are way too high for my motivation to catch up with it

The first gorillaz fanart I ever posted was on DeviantArt back in 2020 (I think???) when I was 13. Here's my 2025 redraw as an official legal adult 😎

It's kind of insane to look back and see just how much my art style has changed. Discovering Gorillaz and by proxy Jamie Hewlett's art played a massive role in my development as an artist. Come to think of it, Gorillaz sorta changed everything about how I created and approached art in general. Like with the direction that my style was going before I got into Gorillaz my art would look ENTIRELY different if I never got into them
