Rocamadour , France 🇫🇷

Rocamadour is a spectacular medieval village built into a cliffside in southwestern France. Perched high above the Alzou Valley, it is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in the country.

Rocamadour became an important religious destination in the Middle Ages after the discovery of relics associated with Saint Amadour. Pilgrims from across Europe traveled there to visit the sacred shrines and the famous Sanctuary of Rocamadour.

The village flourished as a stop on major pilgrimage routes and was visited by kings, nobles, and ordinary travelers seeking spiritual blessings. Its dramatic setting and religious significance made it one of medieval Europe’s most renowned holy sites.

Today, Rocamadour is one of France’s most visited villages, admired for its cliffside architecture, historic chapels, and breathtaking views. It is also part of the UNESCO-listed pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. 🇫🇷🏰⛪
