Why are you going to your Church?
God works in mysterious ways. This is one of the most beautiful stories I’ve heard. When Billy Graham was young, Torrie Johnson who’s one of the founders of “Youth for Christ” was invited to speak at a High School. As he couldn’t go, he called Billy Graham and asked him if he can go and preach on his behalf. Billy Graham agreed. Torrie called the school and told them that he can’t come but he’s sending some young evangelist by the name Billy Graham. The school authorities denied by saying we don’t know who Billy Graham is. We don’t want him and if you’re not coming, we’ll cancel the meeting. Torrie Johnson said, Please Have him. You’ll not regret. They said we don’t know him. Torrie said HAVE HIM. So they accepted to allow Billy Graham to speak on Torrie’s behalf. Billy came back and Torrie called him and asked how did it go. Billy replied, not very well Torrie but one person did respond to the Gospel message. Torrie asked - Did you write down his name, so you can pray for him? Billy said Yes. Torrie asked what’s his name. Billy Graham said His name was Warren Weirsbe.
This story literally brought me to tears. Never ever underestimate any person particularly when it comes to God. God can/will use anyone to save His people. If you’re only attending to big churches and prominent pastors services, then you have to think who you’re following. Don’t treat Pastors as Heroes and don’t consider Churches as Castles. God doesn’t dwell in riches. There are chariots in Jesus times. Yet he chose to ride on a donkey. He’s King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He’s God the almighty. Yet he humbled himself and he preached the Gospel on foot. He didn’t let anyone carry him. Jesus can make the clouds His chariot. Such a powerful God. Now the preachers are into Bentley’s and Private Boeing’s. I’m not judging anyone but What would Jesus do if he were in these times? Would he opt First Class and live in Beverly Hills?
How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. - Mark 10:24
For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another. - Isaiah 48:11
The problem is not the pastors or evangelists. But the people following them. What are you after them for? Their sugar coated message or Their AC stadiums or The elite people attending the service? Just think for a moment why are you attending your Church? For someone you like? To get business contacts? To tell your people that you’re member of a prominent church and you rub shoulders with a famous pastor? Is that your version of Christianity. If so, let me tell you my brother/sister, that is not Christianity. The sooner you learn the better. Thank You.
