Victor tilted his head, perplexed. This human seemed to flow between hot and cold like it was nothing. He supposed that maybe his tribe was wrong not to learn more about humans, because here he was being very confused by the actions of this one. He ran his hand through his shorter hair, then stretched out his arms, examining the bandages. They itched a little. His stomach growled suddenly, reminding him that it had been quite some time since he’d eaten. “Hungry.” He wrote on the pad.
Good, he wasn’t pushing anything about what he just witnessed, instead focused on his stomach. Yuri sighed and went out of the cabin for a few minutes to bark orders at his crew before wandering back in with two plates of food. “Here, we have pretty much everything here from…well, doing pirate stuff.” He grinned before setting the plates down on his desk. He pulled his extra chair over to the other side of the desk before sitting in his own and digging into his plate.
The grin threw Victor. Hadn’t Yuri said he didn’t like pirating? Yet the grin said otherwise. He couldn’t help but think they male was doing this on purpose, keeping Victor off-balance like this. He looked at the plate in front of him, not sure what to do with it. Mermaids ate sea creatures raw, with their hands. So he had no idea what this food was, or how to eat it. Deciding to chance it, he watched Yuri eat for a moment. The male used metal things to grab the food and put it in his mouth. Well, if the human could eat it, surely it was good? Clumsily he lifted a fork and attempted to stab some food onto it.

Victor’s eyes widened in surprise, and he looked over the edge of the bed at the human. The situation and Yuri’s expression were so comical that he couldn’t help but start laughing. No sound left him, but it was obvious he was laughing. After a moment, he swiped his tongue over his lips. Yuri’s blood was actually really tasty. But he still had no interest in eating him. Slowly stretching out his body, he walked over to where the writing pad was. “Cleaning.” He simply wrote, in response to the captain’s question. He showed it to Yuri.
“O-ohh…cleaning. You weren’t….Nevermind.” He coughed into one of his hands, feeling like an idiot. He was supposed to be a pirate, a captain at that! Why was he freaking out over this man? He blamed his anxiety that he tried to keep hidden around the others. He didn’t know how he did it around them, but apparently he couldn’t keep it a secret from Victor.
He stood up and dusted himself off. “Forget that just happened.” He tried to seem threatening.

No anger? Victor was extremely surprised and confused. Everything this human was doing was different from what he expected. And Yuri seemed really upset by the scratches. Did he think they wouldn’t heal? It seemed so. And it also seemed that he didn’t realize how beautiful he was.
Victor shook his head, reaching out his hands to cup the captain’s face. He tried to convey with his expression that he disagreed with Yuri on his being ugly, but without words it probably didn’t work. He eyed the blood. Sure he’d tasted blood before, but not from a human. His wasn’t a tribe that ate humans. So he didn’t know how it would taste. Still, better to clean those wounds, and since he didn’t have human healing supplies… Victor leaned in and ran his tongue over the scratches.
Yuri’s eyes widened, was Victor trying to tell him that he liked the way he looked? Him? The other male was gorgeous! How did he think he was attractive? His mind was spinning from these thoughts when he suddenly felt the wet, warm tongue against his cheek. Once he registered what was happening, his face turned several different shades of red and he freaked out.
“W-what are you doing?!” His voice went several octaves higher as he backed away in such a hurry…He fell right off the bed.

The voice and the motion of being shaken startled Victor awake, but he was still caught up in the nightmares. Thinking he was being attacked, he curved his fingers and lashed out. Nails found flesh, gouging through it. Not as bad as if he’d had long nails like the barbaric tribe did, but enough to make blood well.
The feeling of flesh under his hand woke Victor completely, and he blinked wide blue eyes in surprise. He felt an instant flash of remorse as he realized it had just been Yuri trying to wake him. Yuri, who now had four blood gouges across his cheek. Surely this would make the captain mad, and Victor would see what he was actually like. He gulped and looked to the side, mouthing ‘sorry.’
Yuri put a hand to his face and touched his wounds gingerly, seeing the blood he only sighed. “I guess this will fit the pirate look…huh? Not like there was anything about his face worth saving.” He dropped his hand and shook his head. “It’s fine, this will help convince the others that I took advantage of you.”
“At least you are awake now,” He continued. “Didn’t look like you were having pleasant dreams…” The captain looked away, wondering what time it was and if he could get back to sleep. He hated being awake on most days, depression wasn’t fun. And now that he had an even uglier face….

Victor slept like one of the dead. His body was definitely not used to the stress it had been put through today. He shifted in his sleep, unaware of the human that slept next to him. The mermaid did not have healing powers, so the wounds he had received would heal slowly, draining him of strength. But since they had been tended to, they would heal faster than they would have otherwise.
During the night, dreams of the cannibalistic tribe he’d happened upon plagued him. He lived again each bite, each slash of long nails or crude stone weapons. He opened his mouth in a silent scream, thrashing about, trying desperately to escape. He had no idea that he was caught in nightmares instead of it actually happening to him.
Yuri was violently awoken by thrashing next to him. He growled in annoyance at first, but then he saw Victor’s face and his heart fell. The poor guy looked like he was having the worst nightmares. He had no idea what to do in this situation, so he just shook the man gently and murmured. “Hey, it’s okay. Wake up!”
Since that wasn’t working he grew more insistent with his actions, shaking Victor even more. “Wake up!”

It did exactly what he expected it to. Yuri was completely deterred from any comments he might have made. Of course Victor couldn’t respond to the question he did ask, but that was okay. His fingers tightened in the laces. He hadn’t actually made advances at anyone before, just knew that this was effective. And he now had a blushing human in front of him…who was actually really good looking now that he got a good look at him. Maybe it really was worth pursuing him, provided of course he kept his secret safe.
Whether he would have actually seduced Yuri right then, and whether the captain would have allowed it would never be seen. Because as Victor was leaning closer to see if he could taste Yuri’s throat, his body just shut down on him. His eyes rolled up into his head, and he literally fell, unconscious, into the captain’s arms.
Yuri swallowed hard once more, he was actually getting excited. He had never been so turned on by someone before. He was about to give in and allow Victor to do whatever he wanted to his body, but then the other male just had to go and pass out on him. He sat there for a few moments before an eye started to twitch. Of course, just when he was finally interested in someone…perhaps it was a sign not to pursue this.
He sighed heavily and closely examined the knocked out male. He was alright, just out like a light. Whatever he went through must have been too much for him. He grunted as he lifted the other up and brought him over to his bed. He watched him for a moment before laying next to him, realizing he was tired as well. He flustered when he noticed how close he was to Victor once again, but he quickly brushed off the urge to run. The other was asleep, this was fine…
He passed out after a few minutes.

Well, the mermaid was definitely surprised. Not sure he believed him, but surprised. A nice pirate? It was unheard of. “Why do it?” He wrote in confusion. “You’re a hu… couldn’t you do something else?” Victor cursed himself. He almost gave away his secret. He couldn’t do that. Not only would this pirate most likely not believe him, but on the off chance that he did know mermaids existed, a pretty penny could be fetched by selling Victor. He really was unsure what to do in this situation.
Of course, there was one way to ensure Yuri didn’t notice Victor’s little slip up. The male sat on the desk, more out of fatigue than anything. The smile he gave was sultry, the kind he’d use to entice one of his own kind to have some fun. Using his arms to draw closer, he leaned off the desk toward the captain. One hand came up, fingering the laces of Yuri’s shirt. If you didn’t look beyond the act of what he was doing, you wouldn’t see that Victor was actually shaking. His body had been pushed to its limits, but he was still asking more of it.
Yuri was about to respond when something Victor said had caught his attention. He was about to point it out, but for the life of him he couldn’t remember now. And for a good reason. The other man had just changed his tune very quickly, now all up in his face and flirting with him…
“Oho, where is this coming from suddenly?” He flustered and swallowed hard. Others had hit on him before, but not as boldly or with Victor’s good looks. He was caught way off guard.
It did exactly what he expected it to. Yuri was completely deterred from any comments he might have made. Of course Victor couldn’t respond to the question he did ask, but that was okay. Oops. Apparently even divulging that much was too much, because now the captain wanted to know how that was possible. Victor shook his head and shrugged, hoping that was a good enough answer and that he’d be able to deter the male’s attention from that little detail. “Victor.” He wrote out, looking at the captain. No, at Yuri. He was surprised to be given a name he could actually refer to him as. He’d assumed the male would just tell him to call him ‘Captain.’
“Why are you suddenly being so nice?” He wrote, eyeing the male a bit warily. “Are you trying to get me to trust you so that it is easier for you to take advantage of me?” It was the only thing that made sense to Victor. “This… /is/ a pirate ship, isn’t it?” It looked like one. But he could have been mistaken. After all, mermaids didn’t have much interaction with humans. Unless they were the type of mermaid that ate them.
“I just…I’m not like that. Yes, this is a pirate ship…but I am just not into that. I act that way only around my crew to keep in power and survive. Behind this door I am a nervous wreck, actually.” He sighed heavily, shaking his head at himself. He always had to reveal himself over and over to the people that he rescued from his crew, always had them play along that he had tortured them or something.
“So, just pretend I took advantage of you, okay? I don’t have the guts or heart to do such things…” Maybe he was pathetic, maybe he was better than the others, he just didn’t know.
