Itβs been a few weeks since you and Donnie last talked, but there wasnβt really a reason for it. There was no argument at least not that you thought. You and Donnie usually hung out at lunch, but after winter break it was βoh my friends need me today,β or βsorry but so and so is having relationship issuesβ and whatnot. Itβs not that you didnβt want to be around Donnie, it just felt like you shouldnβt.Β

There was a knock on your front door, you paused. You sat up in bed and listened for a minute before another knock rang through the house, you opened your bedroom door, and walked into the halls with only a t-shirt and underwear on. It was cold and thrundering out tonight, and the icy air of the house quickly sent shivers up your spine. You walked up to the door and went on your tip toes to peek through the peephole, and there was⦠Donnie? You quickly unlocked and opened the door to see him.
βDonnie? What the-? What are you doing here?β you asked quickly, but instead of answering, he just fell into you.
βItβs so fucking cold,β he shuddered.
You dragged Donnie into your room and tried to pull off his jeans, yet when your hands reached the buckle of his belt his hands came down and prevented yours from moving.
βPlease donβt,β he mumbled, his voice was shaking, and his hands were trembling, no doubt from how cold he was.
βDonnie, youβre soaked, if you donβt take these damn clothes off, youβll freeze,β You said as your hands tightened around his belt.
βI just donβt want you toβ¦ see,β he mumbled as he pulled his hands back to cover the tears falling from his eyes.
ββ¦Donnie,β you whispered and moved to sit next to him βCβmon whatβs wrong? You show up at my house like a lost puppy, soaking wet and wonβt let me do anything to help,β you sighed as you moved to peel off his sweater instead. He sat there quietly, letting you remove his sweater, and then his shirt. It was the same white long sleeve shirt he wore on your first real date, except, the sleeves around his arms looked a little.. pink. You carefully hooked your fingers on the hem of the shirt and pulled it up and over his head, the soaked sleeves peeling off his arms to reveal poorly wrapped wounds and scars. You paused, he paused, you made eye contact and he bowed his head.
βIβm sorry,β he murmured, βI wanted to tell you, butβ¦β his voice was shaking, but not from the cold this time. βI tried toβ¦ a couple timesβ¦ i fucking flaked,β he pulled his knees up to his chest and wrapped his arms around them.

You finally got Donnie to agree to a bath to warm him up. He was reluctant at first, but after some convincing, and compromising, you ended up sitting in the tub with him.
You sat on one side, he sat on the other. The water was hot, and your legs were tangled. You got to see why he didnβt want you to rip his jeans off. Scars and cuts littered his thighs, some even reached his hips. You tried not to stare, you didnβt want him to be uncomfortable, but he noticed.
βyβknow,β Donnie started. βIβ¦ i see thingsβ¦β he paused, he picked at his fingers and shifted, his legs moved and he closed his thighs slightly, βThe medication you sawβ¦ it doesnβt helpβ¦ my parents think it doesβ¦ but it doesnβt do anything,β
You looked up to meet his eyes, and things didnβt feel as awkward anymore. You let one of your hands slide up to his knee as he rambled about his parents, the hallucinations he had and whatever came out of his mouth. Your thumb mustβve passed over the same bumps on his skin a thousand times the feeling became so damn familiar.
βIβ¦ Iβm sorry,β Donnie mumbled after a pause.
βFor what?β You asked, your posture straightened slightly.
βMaking you sit hereβ¦ with me,β He said shyly, avoiding eye contact, βI know you donβt wanna likeβ¦ do stuff. Iβm justβ¦ scared to be alone right now,β
βDonnie-,β You started.
βLet me finish,β He said quickly, βIβm also sorry for the theater, I-I didnβtβ¦ apologize forβ¦ yβknow, trying to make you do stuff then,β
βIβ¦ Itβs fine,β You mumbled, βIt was nothing-,β
