HUGE fan of trees growing in places they should not reasonably be able to
upside down
sideways
out of a rock
upside down in a freakin LAKE
out of an Indiana courthouse
out of ANOTHER
GODDAMN
TREE
none of that is a reasonable expectation!!!
i like trees
been reading cicero's rant about words being given obscene meanings and i don't think i've ever seen a latin sentence that made me burst into such immediate and violent laughter before
had a couple people be like "i have no idea what this means" so to clarify: the word penis in latin originally meant tail and only later got the sense of, uh. penis. so this is cicero complaining that nowadays all these hooligans are using the word "penis" for naughty purposes

quilted wall-hanging i finally finished up! this is hand-painted with ferrous and alum based pastes, then i dyed the fabric with different natural pigments-- first pomegranate and then madder. the borders were initially dyed with japanese knotweed, then painted and overdyed with madder. the binding is osage modified with iron and the backing is wattle overdyed with madder and then modified with iron ^_^ this thing is like... maybe 24" tall but i dont feel like measuring it right now, oops

genuine question: you previously said that gender is something that happens to you. so what do you mean when you say trans men chose to be men? i go back and forth over if i chose to be a woman bc ive always felt like one (but obviously made the decision to transition)
i also ask because my boyfriend (we started dating when i thought i was a gay guy) has been a better transfeminist than i have. but i agree with you on the arguing thing. obviously class traitors exist but we can’t rely on them
I will admit that I was trying to be legible to the mainstream understandings of gender given the context of Tumblr Dotcom but if we are to delve into Gender Ternary talk for a minute -- I think Power Gender Inclusion requires enlistment in it and endorsement of it as it violently ejects people who do not do so. And so the tacit understanding of "man-gender" if we are to call it that is the reality that being a man requires periodic checks, usually by other men, but not always, that this person is "correctly" compliant with man. Said another way, inclusion in the gender of Power requires being complicit in the hierarchy which maintains that Power. It does Happen to you, in that it is a social process which is done to you by society -- but it's a process which one engages with and can interfere with, and the process of Gendering As Man* requires being enlisted in the maintenance of Man Gender if that makes sense.
As you say, class traitors exist. Also per the original title of the first Gender Ternary article, I'd argue that certain kinds of people commonly understood as "men" are not correctly categorized under Power Gender but under the other genders based on context.

Generational spin-off media is like “okay, what would be the most in-character way for the previous show’s protagonist to comprehensively fail as a parent?”
I fucking HATE the good hearted loving protagonist becomes a shitty absent parent trope.
It comes up way too often
It’s the fundamental tension between the desire to build continuity and the fact that your writer’s room consists exclusively of people who hate their dads.
