Stilwell has to be one of my favorite men of all time. He had the toughness to kick ass alongside his men well into his 60s.
The poor man was placed in the backwaters of the second world war as a sort of placeholder. Nobody in high command expected him to last as long and as well as he did.Ā
Old enough to cash his social security, he decided instead to pick up his carbine and dole it out.
When the war ended though, the jungle had taken its toll. He would die of surgery complications from cancer while still on active duty a year later.
