This is just one hell of an amazing and enjoyable site. Being a child of the '50s and '60 I find these photo from my time as a gay youth to be a walk down memory lane as it were. I never knew these kinds of photo ever existed back then nor would have I known where to get them. It's so great to see guys from my time period in all their natural glory and not the kind of well buffed and shaved models we see today. Thank you so much and please keep up the excellent work. TCM.
Thanks for your kind words. I've gotten some criticisms too, so it's especially nice when someone takes the time to write that they actually appreciate the site. I'm far too young to remember anything like what I post, but my father has told me that in middle and high school, boy always swam naked, not just at the swimming hole, but in school and at the Y as well. Suits were deemed unnecessary for boys, though girls were required to maintain a strict sense of modesty. He said not many people know about boys swimming naked, though it only ended some time in the 1970s. A lot of photos from that time period seem to bear this out. I've also been told that a whole troupe of boys went skinny dipping at a church picnic, and not one person thought it strange or obscene, and he was 17 at the time. He said that at the Y, boys not only were forbidden from wearing anything at all in the pool, they would occasionally work out with weights or in the gym naked. It wasn't obligatory as it was with swimming, but it wasn't forbidden either. Girls couldn't join the Y back then, so the feeling that there was simply no need for modesty at all. I have a few articles from newspapers about this, so maybe I'll post those as well.
