"Roseland Park in Canandaigua was called the "Playground of the Finger Lakes" during its 60-year family-fun run on the north shore of Canandaigua Lake.

When it opened in 1925, Roseland was said to be one of the first amusement parks in the U.S. designed to be reached by automobile. Others from that era, including the still-thriving Seabreeze Amusement Park in Irondequoit, were so-called "trolley parks" located on trolley lines.

Roseland's best-known attractions include a beloved carousel and a wooden roller coaster called the Skyliner. But the place started as primarily a dance hall — built on the site of a former slaughterhouse. Rides were added as the years went on.

The end came in 1985. Owners blamed the Labor Day closing on increasing costs, changing times and bad-weather blues."

“Roseland Park, briefly known as Lakeside Park, was an amusement situated along the north shore of Canandaigua Lake in New York State's Finger Lakes region. The park was owned and operated by William Maur until its closure on September 2, 1985.
