Iggy Azelea (feat. Charlie XCX) - Fancy
I guess G-Funk/Hyphy/Ratchet is going mainstream. Great production that would've probably fit in just as well on a YG or Iamsu! album. It's also good to see Charlie XCX get some play here in the States too. She's post-Lorde, the next bubbling under, young, female artist that'll probably hit it big within the next year or two.
Childish Gambino (feat. Azealia Banks) - II. Earth: The Oldest Computer (The Last Night)
My favorite song off of Childish Gambino's album, production value on this is top notch though it feels a bit similar to a few songs from Camp and Royalty. It's also shocking to hear Azealia Banks on just supporting vocals. I figured, when I first saw the track listing, that she would contribute a lackluster verse and ruin the vibe of the song. I like her better this way.

Bringing up the rear, to no one's surprise, is DMX. Kind of hard to rank high on a list like this when you've got 1,500 different barks in your arsenal.
A$AP Ferg (feat. Shabba Ranks, Migos, Busta Rhymes) - Shabba
Remix to a stand-out song from A$AP Ferg's debut album, Trap Lord. Ferg brings on Shabba Ranks to feature on the song to give it the stamp of approval.
2 Chainz - Used 2
Ratchety goodness. 2 Chainz reppin Louisiana with this "Back That Azz Up" (Juvenile)-esque song. 2 Chainz does a pretty good job of mimicking Juvenile's flow.
Lil Wayne, Mannie Fresh, Turk and Juvenile all cameo in this music video too.
Flume & Chet Faker - Drop the Game
From Flume's EP, Lockjaw. Flume's an artist that I've re-discovered and have had on repeat for the past little bit now. Atmospheric R&B with hints of Deep House and Hip-Hop, I'd like to think of this as "Future Pop" - sort of a direction where pop music is headed towards; more eclectic mixing of genres.
Lykke Li - No Rest For The Wicked (A$AP Rocky Remix)
Usually Rap remixes are just half-effort, lazy verses tacked onto a song that seems has been or will be tracking very well on a Billboard 200 chart.
This isn't the case. The trap-drum addition and the chopped-and-screwed voice additions work really well. A$AP Rocky drops a nice verse too. Great song.

It's been a while since I've posted. Here's a track that I've been listening to recently. I was put onto it after their performance on Letterman and Samuel Herring's now-viral dance moves.
Gesaffelstein - Control Movement
A better example of the type of production work that Gesaffelstein does than the one I posted earlier this week from the Divergent soundtrack. The song is Tron meets Mad Max. Equal parts gritty, industrial and post-apocalyptic. I'm glad rappers are starting to utilize Gesaffelstein for production. Kanye's Yeezus was only the beginning.
Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels
The eponymous single from El-P and Killer Mike's collaboration project, Run The Jewels. The production work hearkens an early 00's Dead Prez (Hip Hop anyone?). El-P and Killer Mike trade off verses like they've been doing it for decades.
While I love the song and the album, the sum of it feels almost like they both know that it's high-brow rap and they'll beat you in your fucking face over it (Literally. Between El-P's manic flow, the aggressiveness of Killer Mike's voice and the frenetic electronic production, I feel like I'm taking right hook after left hook with this album). It's a fantastic album, but one that's not digestible while doing 15,000 other things at once.
Grimes - Oblivion
Another (slightly) older song, this was my favorite off Grimes' third album, Visions. The ambiguity of the song (though, after much speculation, Grimes, shed a little light on the meaning) and the catchiness of the production has me coming back and re-listening, two years later.
I can't wait for her next album to release and can't wait to watch her perform at Governor's Ball 2014!
King Krule - Easy Easy
Easy Easy has been out for a while but wanted to share this on here. It's simple, but effective. King Krule's unique voice portrays a weariness and frustration that brings to mind a blue-collar blues song from the midwest. Add that to the punk-ish guitar riffs and it seems tailor-made to be the theme song of today's disenfranchised and underutilized youth. I think I would've most definitely felt a kinship with this song during my unemployment phase...
How to Dress Well - Words I Don't Remember
New one from How to Dress Well. Ambient and airy, Tom Krell builds off his 2012 album Total Loss. Starts off minimalistic and slowly adds and builds towards a lush and rich conclusion. However, it feels a little bit different from his last album. Whereas a song like Cold Nites on his last album felt ambient and airy, there was a distinct chilliness and aloofness to it. This one the other hand feels a little more intimate.

Future (feat. Pusha-T and Pharrell) - Move That Dope
The production by Mike Will Made It is minimalistic but that Salt-N-Pepa sample and Future's repetition of "Move That Dope" makes this quite the mesmerizing and hypnotic beat. Also, any time you can feature Pharrell's Smoky the Bear hat gets a +1 from me.

St. Vincent - Birth in Reverse
First single off her newest album, St. Vincent. This one has a frenetic pace with guitar riffs evoking The Strokes (the early 00s version that released Is this it/Room on Fire). Definitely something you can groove and dance to.
