     A handful of my ideas for them have changed - like, near the beginning, I was thinking of how to integrate Nightmaren eating Nightopians into my head-canons, since I really don’t like that, but it’s still canon, at least as far as the Third Levels go. In my head-canon, Nightmaren don’t eat out of necessity, so my initial thoughts were that they would ‘eat’ the Nightopians for the energy they release upon being killed.

     I still didn’t like the idea of NiGHTS eating the little guys, though, and since we only ever really see the Third Levels eating them, I eventually came to the conclusion that it’s only the Third Levels that do it...well, aside from some of the more beastly Second Levels, I suppose. The Third Levels are more feral, after all.
