I JUST NOTICED THAT HE WAS TASTING IT
I just finished watching episode 4 of Hazbin Hotel. I saw so many people complaining about this episode online, and so I decided to share my own thoughts . Also, I will say spoilers, so don't read if you haven't seen the episode yet... so yeah, I went in pretty curious about it, and... I was so wrong. It wasn't good imo... I think what gets me the most is the message the episode is teaching here. So I actually liked the part where Angel is finally opening up to Husker about how he's self aware of his behavior and continues to go down the path of self destruction in order to get out of his situation and Spoiler alert! Husker shares he was an overlord until Alastor beats him at his own card game (It's explained well with the card illustrations, that was pretty cool) ...That scene was going good until Husker starts singing that terrible song and tries to undermine and compare Angel's situation with his own and the truth is...It's Not...Like no way in hell is this guy comparing his situation with Angel's, like I don't know what point Husker is trying to make here. Comparing traumas is the worst thing anyone can do. Everyone experiences their pain differently. The only thing they have in common is that they are both owned by overlords. That's it! In comparison to their owners, Alastor and Val, Alastor is ironically God sent compared to Val, Like the worst he's done to husker is what?...Tease and make fun?... make him work as a bartender at the hotel? or at least that's what is shown between Alastor and Husker...Compared to Val who pimps angel out, SA's him and forces himself on him any time he wants!...And to help cheer Angel up, Husker claims that Angel's a loser and his problems aren't unique? Excuse me?? 'But Hey! We're both losers! so we're in this shit together!...No...Just no...This is a horrible message. I could understand if Husker meant to say that, 'Hey listen, I may not be the best person around, but I'm right here if you need me.' That's enough for Husker to show some comfort to Angel at his most vulnerable time. Husker should be helping Angel to either seek help or help him get the fuck away from Val. To stop getting comfortable in hell and get others to help, I mean we know husker is an ex overlord now and maybe he could share some things to help angel, but nope! we got this song instead about how it doesn't matter what your problems are, everyone else has problems!... Look no one, and I mean no one, deserves to be treated to this way and this would've been fine if Angel's feelings were validated but the lesson here is who gives a shit apparently...And then, in the end, Husker and Angel feel so better now, and they are much closer now because they are losers and the episode ends on a lighter note... until you realize.... Angel still has to go to work... He's still gonna get abused. He's still gonna get used... All while Husker is at the bar with nothing to worry about... But remember that they're the same! They have each other! They're both losers!...Yeah sorry but Fuck this episode... It just puts a bad taste in my mouth. And it sucks because I love dark themes like this, and I know it could've been handled way better than this, but this one wasn't it, chief. That whole song just ruined it for me. So much for the whole wise old bartender schtick Husk... overall It could've been a good episode that touched on such a serious topic but destroyed that with a very, very poor message.
Happy New Year!🥂✨
I wish that this coming year will be gentle on all of us!✨
