Desperation // Vi & Emmy
emmanuelxreyes:
“See? Do you not feel better after admitting it?” he asked with a grin at her sarcasm. Emmanuel looked her over, “Are you aware of the uniform for your shifts here? And the wish room?” he asked. “I am assuming you did your research with your friends before coming in here, or I hope you are smart enough for that.” he pointed out. “Strip down and try on the uniform so I can see how it looks.” he instructed, pointing to one hanging on the wall of his office.
Violet rolled her eyes at him when he ignored her sarcasm. She knew he was just messing with her, he wasn’t dumb enough to not sense her annoyance with him. “I don’t give a shit about what you make me wear. I need a job. Of course I know about your stupid room and I did my research. I thought you knew me better than that.” She replied with another eyeroll. “Whatever.” She huffed, walking over to the uniform on the wall and stepping out of her heels. She quickly tugged her shirt off and pulled her skirt down over her legs.

Violet nodded. “Exactly! I mean, this shit is illegal and they’re just okay with it? Being used for their bodies and stuff? Sure, some of the people are nice but how can they not fight back at all?” She questioned. “Hmm true. But I doubt I’ll end up under the table.” She paused for a moment, rethinking what she said. “Okay, if I do end up under the table, please don’t leave me there.” She begged with a laugh. “First round sounds good to me. I won’t pass up free alcohol.”
“I don’t think I’ll ever get it. I guess it keeps them safe and they figure they might as well just buy into what’s happening, but I could never to it.” she agreed. Scarlett laughed when she changed her comment, “Yeah I thought so. I won’t leave you, I promise.” She ordered them drinks and passed one to Violet, holding up her own. “To freedom.” she offered.
"I couldn't imagine giving in to the horrible Masters and Mistresses. I just can't." She replied softly, laughing at her comment. "I didn't think you would. Maybe if I pissed you off there's be a chance of that though." She grinned. She picked up her glass and smiled. "To freedom.. or the closest thing to freedom there is here."

“Easy there darlin’.” Troy winked at Agnes, keeping his back mostly to the crowd. It looked like he was comforting the grief stricken woman but really his features were pinched in an expression of mild annoyance. This had thrown a complete wrench in their plans. They couldn’t just away with the painting while the party was going on. There was too much heat now, everyone would be on edge.
How annoying. But they would adapt, they always do, it’s why they worked so well together.
He reached up to place a hand against her arm, trying to look like he was being soothing—each movement calculated.
It wasn’t suspicious that someone that worked on set was comforting an actress after all. He was a PA it was what he did.
“Are you alright?” He asked softly. “Any idea what’s going on?”
Agnes quickly wiped away the fake tear and laughed softly at her partner. “Was I convincing?” She asked, allowing her partner to pretend to sooth her. “I am fine. I can take care of myself rather well, you know.” She replied with a small smile. “It seems as though someone slit Bennett’s throat. I’ve overheard some family drama and whatnot, and that the detectives are not letting anyone leave. Have you heard anything on your end?”
A sly, proud grin graced her lips as she looked up at him. “I might have gotten us an in. I played the “poor helpless woman” act with Bennett’s brother. He’s a sucker for that act, apparently. I barely had to bat my eyes and bite my lip before he was staring. If anyone bothers me, I can just tell them that I have a personal invitation from him. Do you think that’s enough to get to where the painting is?” She asked, her voice low so only he would hear.

Eleanor Bennett scowled at the person in front of her, gesturing wildly with her hands. Her eyes were red from tears and her face was flushed to match in indignation. “Yes, alright?!” she shouted angrily. “The rumors are true! But that does not mean I do not love my husband!” Eleanor gestured to the man now lying in a pool of his own blood. “How dare you speak to me like that! My husband is dead!”
Agnes watched as the former wife of Charles Bennett shouted at the person in front of her, her mind already working on how she could use this situation to her advantage. Sympathy and a shoulder to cry on might gain the woman’s trust enough to get access to the painting and get it out the door before someone realizes it was gone. Putting on a mask of sympathy, she slowly walked over to the upset woman and laid a gentle hand on her shoulder. “Now is not the time.” She hissed at the person who started the argument, glaring at them until they scurried away. “I do not think anyone here believes that you did not love your husband.” She whispered.

The woman was very feminine, delicate, and it left a man like William wanting to take care of her. Wasn’t that how it had started with Eleanor? Her need for him, for protection, for something better than his brother. As she held a hand to her cheek, William couldn’t help but follow her hand and then let his eyes linger only a moment on her soft, pouty lips.
“They will.” He assured her with a nod, his hand coming up to softly rub her back as her delicate hand went to his shoulder. She was beautiful, he hadn’t paid attention before but seeing this woman he wondered why he had paid no attention to her before. How could he have dismissed such a thing? Eleanor. His mind screamed at him, but he needed to take care of this woman too and Eleanor may be being questioned by the police at this moment. She will be fine for a moment. The man shook his head in disapproval. “A woman like yourself should not be wandering around without an escort. Have you not been raised to know this?” His hand continued to sooth her, and in the moment it aided him in looking like he was grieving just as much as everyone else. “I can assure you that you are anything but forgettable.” He knew one hundred percent that he would think of this woman later that evening. “I’ll make sure you stay safe. If anyone bothers you, you tell them you are the guest of William Bennett, personally.”

Agnes licked her lips when she caught his eyes lingering on her lips for a moment. So far her plan was working. It left her wondering if she was really that amazing of an actress and she should try for more leading roles, or if he was really that gullible. Perhaps both were true. She liked to stay in the background, unnoticed by most, but perhaps if she became more of a star, she’d be able to steal more important and rare items. That was something she would ponder later, once she had the painting and they were out of this house. Snapping out of her thoughts, she ducked her head a bit before looking back up at him, her hand still resting on his shoulder. To anyone watching, it would look like two grieving individuals.
The blonde stepped a bit closer to him as he placed a soothing hand on her back, trying hard to look like a meek, innocent young woman. “My mother believed that a woman should be able to take care of herself and not rely on a man, though she passed before she could teach me how to do so.” She replied softly. “You are too kind, Mr. Bennett.” She replied with a smile, her voice soft and seductive. “You would do something so kind for me? Someone you do not even know?” She asked, though her mind was reeling. This is exactly what she needed. An all access pass to the house, since she was now a personal guest of the brother. She’d be able to slink around and get to the painting without anyone bothering her.

[Text]: Oh, you can understand the confusion there. So he claimed you, but it wasn’t romantic? That seems almost like a waste! Maybe that’s just me looking through rose-colored glasses.
[Text]: You think? Well, Sage’s opinion does go far with me. Just don’t tell her that haha.
{text}: I do too. And I’m glad that she doesn’t remember anything horrible that happened here, but it’s hard to explain how school is when I call her. I use my family call for her.
{text}: True. A waste? He had someone he could control and manipulate. Something that was purely his. It’s nice to know that you won’t claim someone just to control them though.
{text}: Haha I’m pretty sure she already knows that. But I won’t tell her.

Lois narrowed her eyes sharply at the other woman, a low growl leaving her lips. “Fucking excuse you. I’m a star- and you’re a fucking nobody,” she snapped, knocking back another drink as she stumbled closer to Agnes. Her memory was foggy, she couldn’t quite place the woman, and at this point, with all her drinking and drug use, most people were just ambiguous faces to her. One face usually blended into the other, and with half the bottle of tequila already gone, Lois was already having a hard time seeing straight. But regardless of who she was, her words cut deep, poured salt into the wound, and set her off- the alcohol definitely wasn’t helping matters. “It’d be an honour to leave this earth at my hands, you know that? He should only be so lucky,” she hissed, stalking forward until she was standing right up in the other woman’s face. “Why don’t you just mind your own fucking business.” Taking a breath, Lois took another swing from the bottle and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. “Have any E on you?” she asked, cocking her head at the woman as her anger seemed to dissipate suddenly, abruptly. “Ice? I’ll take whatever, I’m out.”
@violetxansley
Agnes quietly sipped on her drink, a small smirk on her lips as she watched the woman stumble and curse at her. “At least I can say I’m still young and beautiful, and not a drunken old woman.” She quipped. Her head tilted as the brunette stalked closer. “Really? An honor huh? Why don’t we go tell that to the detectives. I’m sure you have a motive somehow, right? Not enough starring roles in Mr. Bennett’s movies or maybe his make up artists aren’t good enough to cover your wrinkles?” She replied, acting like she was looking for a detective to flag down. She turned away from the woman when she told her to mind her own business, but laughed at what she asked her. “I thought I was supposed to mind my own business?” She asked. “Maybe I have one of those. What are you going to do for me?”

Gritting her teeth, Lois shoved her way through the panicking crowd, making a beeline straight for the bar- she was far too sober for this shit. Without waiting for the bartender, she reached over and grabbed a whole bottle of tequila and took a swing from it, grimacing at the familiar burn in her throat. Turning to face the crowd once more, a look of displeasure on her features, Lois took another swing from the bottle. She didn’t know what all the fuss was about- so the Bennett man was dead, big whoop. He was hardly worth all the commotion. “All this for a dead guy- he probably deserved it,” she muttered harshly, talking to herself. Lifting the bottle to her lips again, Lois paused halfway when she saw someone’s eyes on her. “What the fuck are you looking at?”
Agnes rolled her head, stretching out her neck as she watched the commotion going on around her. Sure, the man provided jobs and threw great parties but she didn’t understand why everyone was crying. The blonde watched as the brunette bombshell stomped over to the bar where she was standing and grabbed a whole bottle of alcohol before taking a swig. Leave it to Lois to be upset that all the attention wasn’t on her. She’d been in enough movies of hers to know what the actress was like. Though maybe she could get the woman drunk enough to cause a scene and get any eyes off of her and her partner. “Careful dear. Words like that could make you a suspect.” She replied, lips pursed in a slightly cruel smile. “Me? I’m just looking at an old has-been. Bit much to drink there, hmm Lois? Might want to slow down or you’ll look guilty and have the wrong type of attention on you.” She commented, bringing her own drink to her lips.

Dorothy stood as still as a statue, the look that suited the passive woman the best. But it was also genuine shock, as the image of her boss lying in a pool of his own blood flickered through her mind. No one deserved that..not even him.
The woman looked to the blonde who had spoken, someone that she recognized from the shows but had never really gotten to know well. “I don’t know.. It couldn’t have been someone here, that’s just not possible! It had to have been an intruder” That had to have been it, the more logical explanation.
@violetxansley
Agnes looked at the woman next to her, recognizing her from set though she never bothered to learn her name. “I cannot see Mr. Bennett having any enemies. Especially ones who would do this in front of so many people. However, he was a very wealthy man. Perhaps someone became desperate for money or fame.” She mused. Maybe planting the idea in the woman’s head would help her frame the killer for missing items later on. “Mr. Bennett was always kind to me on set, however you must have known him better than I.” She commented, her delicate hand coming to wipe away the tear that was still lingering on her cheek.

William couldn’t get close. It was the sight of blood spilling over the floor that made this seem even more disbelieving to him. Previous anger turned to loathing, but not towards his brother. This might have been the best gift the Gods could have given him but still in the back of his mind he had to wonder - who would do this to his family? Was it Eleanor? Did she plan this surprise for William? No, it probably wasn’t that.
Drawn out of his own thoughts he turned to the woman who had been speaking. One he was sure he had seen before, around the sets of his brothers, but still nothing really came to mind. “They will pay.” William stated with finality, his eyes shifting around the room as if the murderer would appear any moment wielding an axe and charging the crowd. “Have you come with someone to keep you safe?” She looked a frail woman, one who would need protecting.
A giddy feeling flowed through Agnes when she realized who was standing next to her, a plan already forming quickly in her mind. If she could distract the brother, maybe they’d actually be able to pull it off. Of course, her face didn’t show any of her thoughts or real feelings. Instead, she feigned ignorance, acting like she didn’t know who the man was. She brought a delicate hand up to gently wipe the tear off her cheek.
“They will. The detectives will find out who did this. I am sure of it.” She blonde replied before placing a soft hand on his shoulder. “Oh, no. I have come by myself.” She explained, biting her lip in a worried manner. “Surely no one would come after someone as forgettable as I am, right?” She asked, widening her doe-like eyes in hopes of catching his attention even more. Of course, all of her words were lies. She’d come with Troy, but no one was supposed to know that they were anything more than acquaintances from set. She was also very capable of taking care of herself. Years of thievery and getting out of sticky situations had helped her learn to look after herself.

“Exactly! If something looks bad, just blame it on liquid courage.” Sabrina would certainly pretend to be drunk at times rather than admit that her sense of rhythm might naturally be that bad. “Scarlett seriously needs to embrace it all. I know that they would rather not see her being as spirited as she is, but that is just who Scarlett is. She’s a badass. There is no way to change her.” She grinned. “It’s a pleasure, Violet. I’m Sabrina.”
“I’ll just say I’m drunk if anyone looks at me weird.” She laughed, her bodies sways becoming more loose and natural. “Exactly! I would be upset if she changed. I hated how she was when Isabella was here. I’m happy that she’s free now, even if it means she’s back in the cells. It sounds fucked up but the cells are actually better.” She replied with a soft sigh. “It’s nice to meet you Sabrina.”

Agnes stood back, eyes darting around the room while locating each detective and grief stricken person. “Just lovely.” She muttered under her breath, eyes now searching for Troy among the crowd of people. Their plans had to change now and the the two needed to talk about how they’d adapt.
Once the woman had screamed, indicating Charles’ death, she had immediately made her way for the back of the room, wanting to be out of the way of the action. That was how she preferred it, after all. As an extra in a number Mr. Bennett’s movies, she wanted to blend in. It was her specialty. One that had managed to land her an invitation to the most glamorous party of the year.
With Troy nowhere in sight, the blonde sighed. She might as well try to blend in. In a movement that screamed nonchalant, Agnes reached into her small clutch and pulled out her compact, checking her make-up before allowing a single, fake tear to slide down her cheek, not that anyone would know it was fake of course. She was an actress after all. She put her compact away and turned to the nearest person, her face a mask of horror and grief. “How could someone do this?”
