my study routine!
this is my language study routine, currently with focus on korean so some aspects might not fit all languages, but i think it’s generally a good first step to becoming more comfortable with a new language!
daily:
repeat old grammar/vocabulary (i do this in the form of hard-practicing my duolingo lessons, and participating in activities in a language server i’m in)
copy down a text in my target language (as i said, this is mainly for korean to get more comfortable with hangeul handwriting, but can be used for other languages, too!)
listen to music in my target language
semi-daily:
do new duolingo lessons
note down any new vocabulary and grammar
several times a week:
look at my grammar book and highlight important bits
once a week:
copy down the information from the highlighted bits into my study space (i use notion!)
whenever i have time:
engage with media in my target language, even if i don’t understand anything yet
it’s not a very strict routine, and if i don’t manage to do something i don’t beat myself up over it (most important part!), but i try sticking to this so that i can get better at my target languages!
i also try to stick to the habit of studying twice a day (mornings and afternoons - though not limited to language study), no matter how small the amount of studying i do is, just to keep myself in the routine of doing things
