jessie had spent what seemed like hours kicking at sand for no apparent reason other than he thought if he stood around doing noting for long enough someone would come around and let him in on the punchline of this joke . maybe he shouldn’t have been surprised that of all people , he was one of a few that was randomly and somehow put on this freak show island . he had never had the best luck in the world . or maybe this was some twisted hell or way of getting his karma thrown back at him . there was a bunch of possibilities that made no sense but again , this made no sense . at least to the brunette it made no sense . hearing someone yell from across the way , jessie looked over noticing the girl . ‟ have no fucking clue which would mean that we’re both fucked . i don’t know what’s more fucked though , the lack of liquor or whatever sadistic shit we’ll have to pull in our very own most dangerous game . „ the male shrugged , the sarcasm rolling off his tongue . although , he was starting to feel more and more restless . the more people he ran into the more hope that whatever this was was some fluke began to fade .
. . . .
honestly ? virginia couldn’t remember ‘the most dangerous game’ very well, but didn’t the billionaire at least extend some common courtesy to the guy he was about to hunt down first ? like... didn’t he give him dinner or something ? or was she making that up ? either way, their eccentric billionaire was clearly not half the eccentric billionaire of ‘the most dangerous game’ if he wanted to starve them out and weaken them first. so lame. “ y’know what, man ? being murdered trying to fight off some sadistic billionaire would actually be a pretty metal way to die. and, like, if our only other option is starvation, i say let ‘im start shooting. ” it had taken her all of seven seconds to change her mind. but, like, if they were fucked anyway, at least they could be fucked in the cool way. “ it’d make up for the total lack of all that good shit too. ” it would actually be a win/win/win scenario. they wouldn’t be thinking about anything, they’d die a really cool death, and they’d never have to kill each other !
indindigo:
“ thank you so much. ” it was no guarantee they’d find him, hell, he may not even be there, but it certainly made indigo feel better to know there would be two sets of eyes looking out for him. and at least if, later, they didn’t find him and split up, the other girl would know where he belonged. “ not a fucking clue, ” she repeated, usually not one to use such language, but sometimes it couldn’t be helped. “ the last thing i remember is picking my son up from daycare. well, heading home. i remember i was talking to my boss… ” she remembered snapping at joey. he wouldn’t be quiet in the backseat. she’d been so annoyed. “ and that’s it. ”
. . . .
“ yeah, yeah – i know this’s gotta be, like... a nightmare, ” you know, even beyond that whole ‘waking up on an island with no recollection of ever going there and suddenly being forced into a survivor-like scenario only there are no helicopters and emts ready to save you if you fuck up a challenge’ aspect. had she been with ava... “ alright, so that nixes my ‘super fucking extreme blackout’ theory, ” she remarked, beginning to walk rather aimlessly so as to follow through on her promise to offer another set of eyes. “ you seen anyone else around ? ”

Darcy’s gait was interrupted by someone calling out to her, another person on this god forsaken island. At this rate, they’d be able to start their own commune. “Not a fucking clue.” She admitted, crossing her arms as she looked around the overgrown island. Flashing her an unappreciative look, Darcy did not want to think about that. “You just had to say Most Dangerous Game. Their predicament right now was too close to that and The Hunt for Darcy’s comfort. “I’ve been walking around for, I don’t know, a couple of hours and I haven’t been shot at yet so I think we’re okay for now.” If there wasn’t someone around hunting them, they’d all end up dead from starvation and dehydration anyway.
. . . .
sick, another woman who had no fucking clue what was going on ! cool ! god, and of all days to wake up on some mysterious island, it just had to be the day she was gonna meet up with earring jesse... and then came the worst news of all: they probably were not in “the most dangerous game.” “ dude, that’s so fucking lame. ” would she rather live ? sure. but, like... if this was their reality ? “ like, starving to death ? that’s so damn boring. but dying trying to outrun some fucking sadist who was just chilling in his mansion ? pretty rad way to go. ” but it’s never too late to start getting shot at ! it’s never too late for a billionaire sadist to emerge ! like, she wouldn’t start actively wishing for it until things started looking truly hopeless ( maybe said sadistic billionaire was weakening the first ! ), but... god, starvation ? dehydration ? boring. “ anyways, ” she drew out, still bitter over the news that they were probably gonna die natural deaths if they were gonna die there, “ you have any clue how long you’ve been here ? ”
alexxwatson:
Alex could handle rain. She was born and raised in London, after all, a place known for its gloomy skies and propensity to drench its inhabitants. However, the rain that had taken over the island was torrential, and didn’t even cool the island down all that much. In short, it was a rather miserable affair. Except for the fact that it meant they could count on fresh water, which was why the woman was currently attempting to collect water with whatever was around. An unfamiliar voice cuts through the sound of the rain, and Alex straightens up, forearm raised to push back her drenched hair. “Haven’t spotted anyone hunting us for sport yet,” Alex calls back, and it all feels almost too ridiculous to process. Every time she went out, there was another young woman, just as confused as she was. A part of her was glad for the company, even if it was impractical to think about something as silly as pretty girls during all of this, while the rest of her wondered what the significance of it was. “No idea what’s happening, though. Hard to figure it out with all of this rain.”
.
god, right – the rain. she would question how she’d yet to notice it, but she was certain there were many things she’d yet to notice. whose first concern when they wake up in some strange place ( like, stranger than some stranger’s room or a perfectly good couch in the junkyard ) is the weather ? only buffoons. “ goddamnit, ” she huffed, turning to the new woman. “ not only would that explain all this to some degree, but getting hunted for sport would be a pretty metal way to die. “ so now what ? “ starvation is so lame. ” if they ever recovered her body, her obituary would read ‘virginia feldman, 1992-2020, died from starvation’ and not ‘virginia feldman, 1992-2020, got shot by an arrow or something after days of putting up a fight against an eccentric billionaire’ –– and that was even worse than whatever this reality was. but she supposed she was now meant to figure out what was happening which immediately grounded her into a realization regarding the woman’s charming accent: “ wait, are you from england ? ”
indindigo:
it physically hurt her heart to think about her little boy wandering around looking for her, confused at why he was alone. she couldn’t dwell on that. she couldn’t dwell on anything. she just had to find him. “ right, ” she repeated, her voice soft. on one hand, he couldn’t get very far by himself. on the other, he couldn’t get very far by himself. “ joey. he’ll probably answer to ‘booger’ too. or ‘munchkin’. i call him those more than his actual name. ” she hesitated. she had to ask. “ do you… happen to know how you got here? ”
.
“ joey. alright. ” she wanted to say that oh, they would find him! he couldn’t be far! but bullshitting already wasn’t in virginia’s preferred repertoire – but it wasn’t even a question when it came to mothers and children. if someone said some ‘oh, it’ll all work out!’ bullshit to her about it, she’d gladly deck them. “ we can walk around, look for him – power in numbers and all ? ” that was the only thing they could do, as she saw it. she shook her head in response to the other’s following question. “ not a fucking clue. you don’t either ? ”
indindigo:
she was right. while indi had thought she was alone at first, by now she’d ran into a few others. it wasn’t unlikely that someone else had ran into him while she was out here asking every new stranger about him. if his path had crossed with someone she’d yet to question, surely he’d be safe. no one would leave a small child alone so close to a large body of water. “ right, ” she replied, letting out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. “ so… the question is… if you were a three year old… where would you be? ”
.
the mcdonald’s play pit ? an ihop at 3:47am ? a midnight screening of the scarlet letter because mom wanted to see demi moore take a bath and knew how to trick the ticket-takers ? none of those seemed to be true possibilities – not here ( and not while the scarlet letter was no longer showing ) where they lacked even basic shelter. but, five years ago, what would she have been doing ? it was bold to assume she knew. “ looking for my mom. ” which was totally unhelpful. “ so – okay, three-year-olds can, like, barely talk and walk steady, right ? ” which meant he probably wouldn’t be able to make much progress looking for his mother - who virginia assumed was the woman she was talking to. “ what’s his name ? ”
indindigo:
joey. he was the first thought she had as she woke. not how the hell did she get on this island? but where the hell was her son? to say indigo was frantic was an understatement. breathing hitched and on the verge of tears she approached the first stranger she saw, eyes darting around in hopes of landing on him. “ have you seen a boy– he’s– he’s yay high, ” she gestured, holding out her hand, “ small, dark hair, dark eyes. he’s wearing… i’m– i don’t remember what he’s wearing. please, please, tell me you’ve seen him. ”
.
virginia was still so stuck in the cycle of all the things this could be ( hallucination, fever dream, an episode of the long ago cancelled punk’d ) that she’d yet to think of everything she should’ve been thinking about ( in the long-term, that is ). the question she heard was a bit of a kick into reality – she couldn’t stay with him, not long-term - hell, not even short-term – and a bout of severity moved in. “ i... fuck. well there are people popping up, eh, every two seconds, right ? they could – he might be around here somewhere. ” not that there was much room to hide. goddamn punk’d crew.
virginia’s first thoughts when she came to: alright ! cool ! it wasn’t like it was the first time she woke up somewhere with no recollection of how she’d gotten there, right ? yeah ! but, like... no, no, it was the most extreme. for sure. maybe she was in a saw movie ? or a really intense escape room, designed to look super realistic ? really, they were both about as likely as her reality: being mysteriously spit out on a deserted island. was there a correct way to process that ? because cycling through the endless possibilities that were just about as likely, but were all equally untrue ( aliens ? ), was about all she could do until she spotted someone and thank god, at least she wasn’t the only target of the billionaire who hunted humans for sport. “ hey, you – do you have any clue what’s happening ? because i’m getting big ‘most dangerous game’ vibes which would mean we’re both fucked. ”
