Not an expert but from personal experience this is true. Firms will also try to build a case representing multiple clients as well, which can strengthen their case and give a bigger pay out. If they win.
If your company is stealing wages from you there is a good chances their stealing from others. Talk to your coworkers about your wages (but be smart about it).
You absolutely have the power to sue their asses if you need to. You might need to take the time to do your research and talk to multiple lawyers first but donât let the fear of lawyer fees be the Only thing that stops you.
Plus, join a union if you can, as they will have a lot of legal resources that individuals may struggle to afford!
And if you think your kind of work doesn't have unions, double-check!
I'm a self-employed writer and I just found out the UK (where I am) has a union for self-employed people. How does that work, you ask? What do I need a union for if I'm my own boss?
And the answer is: to have extra leverage when insisting that my contractual rights be observed when working on contract with clients who could otherwise more easily renege on contractual obligations without me as an individual being able to effectively fight that.
(there are other benefits too but that was my biggest personal motivation for joining)
they need to invent a food that i do not have to do any work to prepare and also is cheap and also is nutritious and also tastes good and also that doesnât hurt my tummy
The way I fucking howled.
With Autism Acceptance Week (28/03 to 04/04) here, and April being Autism Awareness Month, here's a reminder:

now with a link to read it for yourself!! xx
Anyways the queer community isn't just what's on the internet. You'll find transgender people who call themselves transsexuals because that's what they called themselves 40 years ago, you'll find bisexual women who have been in the lesbian community since before bisexual women were forced to make their own community, you'll find gay men who call themselves femmes, you'll find trans women who were drag queens for decades before calling themselves trans women (and still are drag queens). The queer community is big and colourful and beautiful and doesn't have set boxes, and it never should.
happy 1 year to this post. its never leaving my notifs huh
The older I get the more I realize that everything really is that deep. The people you confide in, trust, date, become friends with, the opportunities you take. What you eat and even what you consume. Itâs very deep and shouldnât be taken lightly.

If you want to help, the organization Natur & Ungdom are gathering donations for the protestors! Donations go towards handling fines, legal aid, food, and equipment. The protests are ongoing and still building steam!

âfem-presentingâ this, âmasc-presentingâ that. what if i wanna just be Presenting. i am showing you something and you have no idea what it is
#Iâm presenting you with a dilemma
Itâs not too much to say that to endanger it would be to endanger the whole world.
Excerpt from this Margaret Renkl Op-Ed from the New York Times:
Last fall, in a moving essay for The Bitter Southerner, the writer Janisse Ray called the Okefenokee âa gigantic, ethereal, god-touched swamp in southeast Georgia thatâs like no other place on earth.â This is the kind of ecstatic language the refuge inevitably inspires. Some 700,000 people visit it each year, and I have always intended to return. Now Iâm worried I wonât ever have the chance.
Twin Pines Minerals, an Alabama-based mining company, has applied to build a strip mine less than three miles from the wildlife refuge. The mining operation would target a geological formation called Trail Ridge, a raised area of land on the eastern border of the swamp. During prehistoric times, Trail Ridge was a barrier island. Today the ocean is some 45 miles away, and Trail Ridge functions as a low earthen dam that holds the Okefenokee in place. âTrail Ridge is not only ecologically important in and of itself,â notes the Georgia Conservancy, âbut also serves as scaffolding for the health of the Okefenokee.â
But Trail Ridge contains titanium dioxide. Twin Pines proposes to extract the mineral by peeling off the topsoil, digging out the sand pits, separating the sand containing titanium and then returning the mineral-free sand to its approximate original location.
It might sound like a decent plan if youâve never seen what happens when a coal company practices mountaintop removal mining, which also works according to a destroy-extract-replace model. Strip mines dramatically alter the environment. Recreating ancient ecosystems afterward isnât possible.
And as the Okefenokee Protection Alliance points out, risking this wildlife refuge just isnât necessary. Titanium dioxide isnât hard to find elsewhere, and procuring it is not exactly an issue of national security: âThough titanium is used in everything from surgical tools to military equipment, mineral commodity experts expect the minerals that might be obtained here to be used for more pedestrian purposes â primarily as a pigment for coloring things white like paint, plastic and even toothpaste.â
On Jan. 19, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division opened a period of public comment about the companyâs draft plan. Itâs not necessary to live in Georgia to comment.
Ohhhhhh no no no no no HELL no!!!
Strip mined areas hemorrhage pollutants into surrounding water. Mining accidents in Eastern KY have made drinking water toxic for 20 years after the accident. I can only imagine how much worse that would be in a SWAMP
