I managed to lose track of a couple of things so to make up for it, here’s a starter call! I’m leaving it uncapped though I may be selective.

Cyrus Albright from Octopath Traveler is your fave!

Therion: Can we kill him?
Cyrus: No.
Therion: I can make it look like an accident...
Cyrus: ...How?
Ophilia: Cyrus!
Cyrus: Alright, no...
there’s all too much to do in this wonderfully large city and, gradually, his appreciation grows as there seems to always be something to do every day. but, for now, he decides to be near the books, something he understands completely, something from his time. mikazuki walks into a bookstore, taking in the scent of new books, mostly untouched, ready for purchase and consumption.
he wonders, briefly, why anyone would buy books when there are libraries?
he wanders the shelves, admiring the many different print available for viewing and, if interested, buying. he stops in aisle, looking at the books with titles that… he recognizes. it seems writing from his world, about his world, have found there way here as well, and different genres, different authors, all here for one to view.
how does this world even obtain these books?
how do they know?
he reaches for a book, one containing a book of poetry from masters of different eras, and begins to read, their words painting vivid imagery, or more accurately, returning memories of those places to him. when he hears footsteps, he lifts his head away from the text, observing the stranger with contemplative curiosity.
“hmm, are you… perhaps… interested in these texts?” he asks, not one to be afraid of starting random conversations. he smiles and laughs quietly, “ah, perhaps you’re only passing through – if that’s the case, please, don’t mind this jiji.”

Given his habits, the scholar finds himself often the center of attention. He cares not for what others think of him most of the time, so long as it is not bothersome. Because of this, he is prone to many odd habits, such as carrying gigantic stacks of books that tower over his head.
How does he navigate with them? How is he not tired? Those are questions frequently asked by those around him, directly or in a hushed whisper behind his back. The answer to both questions was practice. Even in shops with more crowded aisles than what he was used to, like the book store he currently explored, he was quite careful and methodical in how he moved.
It was rare for anyone to call to him at these times, even if he was always open to converse. That’s why he hesitated a moment when he heard the stranger speak to him. He blinked, turned his entire body so he could get a better view. He gave an inquisitive look as he processed what was said, but soon it brightened into an excited, eye-sparkling smile.
“Oh, I most certainly am, my good man! Why, that’s the very reason why I have traveled to this section!” He very nearly bows, but quickly realizes that would send his stack toppling right into this serene stranger. “Er, it seems as though I’ll have to place these somewhere if I want to peruse the selection here. Oh, but if you were about to take that for yourself, feel absolutely free to do so. You found it first, after all.”

Hello, Cyrus! For your participation in Subversion, you will be granted your Battle-Tested Staff. It can slow an enemy 5 times a day, for up to five minutes each. Congratulations!
The staff is a familiar weight in his hands, as is the pulse of magic it holds. He feels stronger, closes his eyes to take in the thrum.
He hadn’t been yearning for power, nor had he missed it. It had been a true shame to be deprived of his magic, but he’d lived with it. He’d buried himself in his findings on this city, on learning technology, instead of dwelling on his losses. Still, he beams as he twirls the rod between his arms, enthusiastic all the same.
“Perhaps now if people have questions about magic, I could give a better demonstration!”
It doesn’t matter tooooo much, but I updated Cyrus’ canon point to postgame! I don’t want to say a lot because that means he’s now privy to some major spoilers, but I figured I’d make that announcement.

“Absolutely not!”
“R-really? Not even a little? I promise I won’t tell a soul...!”
“Oh, the moon’s absolutely haunted.”
“At least it will be in a couple years.”
“Is that so? How interesting... Would you be so kind as to elaborate on that statement?”

◆ * “Counterpoint: …you ever been somewhere with twenty moons? Think about it. You never know.” This boy has believed in the tsuchinoko and nessie in the face of a hundred naysayers only to have them proven real within his lifetime. He is unstoppable. “Anyway, where’d you get those books? Here? Where you were trapped against your will without notice by unknown supernatural means?”
“Well...” He pauses, lips pursing, and a small sigh ghosts from his mouth. “Admittedly, I have not, but the logic I am using is based on findings from both the myriad texts here and the knowledge I have accumulated from thorough reading in my world. I do not wish to make it sound as though I am discrediting your theory; all I think is that there needs to be more research done, which I am more than willing to do.”

Five seconds with a quiet stare followed by a mirthful chortle.
❝ That’s actually … ❞ Words lost in amazement over what just happened ; cleared his throat before continuing. ❝ Great and all , but you forgot a vital factor. Humans. What can you say about them regarding this concern ? ❞
And Cyrus, oblivious to social cues that he is, simply continues.
“Ah yes, human involvement could accelerate the process; however, most of the speculation I’ve read has alluded not to the destruction of the world as a whole, but to the extinction of our race. A ‘nuclear winter’ is a theory I’ve seen posited quite a few times. I’ve also seen concerns regarding subtle yet potent changes in the climate. It’s all quite fascinating, wouldn’t you agree?” He says, as though he’s not talking about everyone dying.
@virmentis , @dotchr , @f-umo and others on the dash right now

◆ * “How do we know it doesn’t? Eclipses, not much tidal information to go off of, and no telling what other factors come into play. Hell, maybe gravity is different here than wherever we’re used to, and we just can’t tell because we woke up in it.”
“There is a beach with normal activity right in this city, though I admit, it would take far more careful studies than I alone am capable of in order to glean useful information. As for the gravitational pull of whatever planet we are currently residing on, I have been assuming, based on the books I’ve read, that it must at least be close to that of where I am from and to Earth, based on the fact that our weights have not changed. but even so...” He hums in thought.

❝ Okay , but END OF THE WORLD , WHEN ??? ❞
“I’ve yet to read a definitive answer to that, I’m afraid. According to the history this world is purportedly based off of, apocalyptic events have been predicted and disproved since the beginnings of the Common Era.. In most recent years, there have been supposed world-ending events that have taken much of society by storm, such as the ‘Y2K’ bug for 2000 or the end of b’ak’tun in 2012. Meanwhile, on a more scientific level, the sun is scheduled to burn through all of its fuel in around... I want to say 4.6 billion years. So, if I were to place a bet on when the world shall end, it would be on either that or a freak accident in an earlier year.”
Ziodie
“Who gives a rat’s ass ‘bout all that research and science shit? Long as we’re not dead… we’re okay.” …Good logic, Kanji.
“Well, personally, young man, I do. Though I do see some merit in your point, and I, too, am grateful for our continued existence, it would behoove us to solve the mystery these eclipses hold!”
