“Oh, right, sorry!” Raphi flashed her an embarrassed grin, still yelling over her music. She bent over to turn the stereo dial down, her long, straight hair falling gently over her shoulder. “I just really love Hozier. Don’t you?”

Vitani sighed rubbing her temples.  “Thank you.  I’m surprised you haven’t had a noise complaint with how loud your music was.  And who?”

Shenzi was on her way back to where her friends were when she heard her other girl’s voice. “Vitani Leon at a party.”, she said upon turning around. “I’ve now seen everything.”

Vitani sighed.  She didn’t want to deal with Shenzi on good day and she really didn’t want to have to deal with her sober or with a headache coming on.  “I guess that means that you can finally leave me and my family alone then since you have seen everything and don’t need us anymore.”

“You act like an actual quiet place in this town is a bad thing.  Quiet is something that I really need right now.”

“Quiet seems good right about now.  Why did I think studying in the common room was a good idea.”  Vitani grabbed her bag.  “You coming with?” she asked.

“Listen my head hurts and all of this noise isn’t really helping.  So if you want to talk can we go somewhere more quiet.”

“I didn’t know I was off my training yet! Old habits die hard and you can’t say this doesn’t make it even more fun.” He laughed his words along, catching the bag with one hand before pulling it over his shoulder; it was definitely heavier from the last time he’d carried it. “We can use the back exit.” Miguel pointed out and quickly opened way between the customers for the two of them to go through the door and out to the alley. “Un poco de fe. No calls tonight; we’re going to be scratch free unless–” He came to a stop and grimaced, the staircase from the adjacent building was locked out and up from reach. “–well, unless something like this happens.”

Vitani stared at the stairs.  “Here’s another part of your training and I guess one of my bad habits deciding to show up.” Vitani put her bag down and pulled a bobby pin out of her hair and picked the lock.  “See easy but you’re going to want to back up” Vitani said with a smirk before stepping back a little bit and then ran and jumped on the stairs to pull them down.  “You still have a lot to learn newbie” she said reaching for her back.

“Aww. Remind me not to ever whistle again.” Richie pouted. “Exactly. The OG script had the amazing, nuanced descriptions you would actually work with. I need space to work the room.” He huffed and crossed his arms– uncrossing them again so he could work on tearing his paper napkin. He perked up once he realized what Vitani had said. “Hold on. If you have them around, can I see the first ones you worked on? I want to picture what could’ve been… even if you’re gonna make my ass look amazing come rain or shine.” Rich clicked his tongue against his cheek and laughed. “Okay, how about: The only reason this shit has more pages is cause it is this close to counting my steps and dictating my breathing patterns.”

“Yes because you would totally listen to me if I told you not to whistle till I have had my coffee” Vitani said with a smirk.  She sighed.  “Yes I have them.”  Vitani pulled her sketch book out of her bag.  She held it close to her chest before handing the book to Richie.  “And somehow hide your ego all at the same time” she said with a smirk.  “Ok now you have to remember that you wanted me to do the designs not some professional.  So what do you think?”

“Eh– yeah! Of course.” Miguel bounced up in his seat as a nervous chuckle erupted from him; his eyes warily watching the window just a few feet away from them. “I had to use a couple fire escapes for it before I got here, but I am like… eighty-five percent sure.”

“One job.  You had one job Miguel.  This is why I normally come with you when we hit bigger tourists.”  Vitani quickly swept the things that they had pick pocketed the passed couple of days off the table and into two backpacks.  She tossed one to him.  “Well we’re about to use a few more.  I don’t feel like calling dear old step father to bail us out tonight.  So we have to move quick.”

“Yes, but you love listening to the fucking alluring sound of my grumble, so you’re totally okay with it.” Viv added, extending her legs and yawning. “Sorry, I needed to rant.” She explained on a more serious note. 

“Just a little bit” Vitani said showing how close her fingers where with a smile.  “But seriously do I need to clear my schedule to help you hid a body or do you feel better by just ranting.”

“Holy shit, you actually said those words to me.“, Shenzi said even if she knew that the words weren’t directed to her. "Can you repeat it?”

“Not you the idiot behind you” she said rolling her eyes.  “As if I would ever say those words to you but since you are here what do you want.”

Would you ever ask a songbird to shut up?” He rolled his eyes dramatically before sliding the script over to her side of the table. “I really did fucking try to summarize it, but look at this shit!” Richie flipped through some of pages. “If I didn’t know any better, I would be worried some asshole traded my pages for some light Proust.”

“You seem to forget that I do that every morning.  Multiple times in the morning in fact.”  Vitani looked at the script.  “I mean it doesn’t look all that bad.  I did like the original script better.  If you go with this I’m going to have to change a couple of the costume designs to fit with this script better.”  Vitani just stared at him.  “Ok want to run that by me one more time but with smaller words and in English.”

“I’m giving you more description than you need, ’cause I need you to believe me.” Meg sighed, her hand heading straight to pick up her margarita. “How often do you get to hear about a group of students wanting to steal the koi fish from a restaurant so they can set them free?”

“With the people that are in this town and the people that I go to school with it surprises me that there haven’t been more people like that.”

“You know I’m physically incapable of doing that.” Miguel pouted at her. “Besides, you asked what happened! I thought giving you the pre-chase details would… I don’t know.” He laughed. “Can’t blame me for wanting to give you the old razzle dazzle.”

Vitani just stared at him.  “Please please tell me that you are smarter then to lead them here.  Please tell me you lost them before coming here.” Vitani said rubbing her temples.
