Jedi AU -
Andrew was sure he didn't like the look of him. Neil was dressed too casually for a merchant, and for one to offer transport so willingly? "What's the price?" Andrew asked.
"Six thousand," Neil said, continuing to lean casually against the bar's counter.
Six thousand. Andrew was sure that was all he had left, but...if it meant that Aaron and Nicky would be out of harms way, then he'd spend it all here and now. He'd survived through having no money in the past, so he'd be alright. The one thing that concerned Andrew at all was the way Neil looked at him - watching, trying to decipher Andrew. He tried to shift subtly, hoping that his lightsabers weren't obvious from where they were hidden under his baggy clothes.
"Deal," Andrew said. He didn't take Neil's offer to shake hands, only reaching for his glass and downing the rest of his drink. It was free, after all, and he was going to be out of money soon.
"So," Neil said, twisting a piece of scrap in his hands, "meet me at dock twenty tomorrow morning. I'm leaving by midday."
"I'll be there," Andrew promised.
"I know," Neil said, shrugging. "You know, the only question I have is why. Who'd be so eager to leave Naboo? It's one of the only core worlds that isn't so heavily restricted by the Empire."
The lightsabers on Andrew's belt felt heavier, somehow.
Here There Be Dragons -
The huge dragon shifted on his four legs, continuing to walk in a circle, staring at the huge valley. Andrew watched him move, deciding to pick up the pieces of his camp that he could salvage while the dragon took everything in. He kept seeing red out of the corners of his eyes, Naerved impossible to miss as he walked, footfalls heavy due to his massive size.
"How could you live here?" Naerved asked, finally rounding on Andrew. "This place is awful."
"It's sacred, to some people," Andrew reminded him.
"Why would you do this?" Naerved continued, walking towards a different stone dragon. It was further back from the rest, so Andrew had to assume it was deliberate. "Candles and - and flowers? What is all of this?"
"To honor the dragons?" Andrew asked, folding up his blanket.
"Why?"
"Because you sacrificed yourselves to save the world," Andrew explained, sighing loudly. "You're back."
Naerved shook his giant head. "What - ? I don't..." He paused, looking around. "I can't stay here."
Andrew watched the dragon start to walk away through the rows of statues, who could've been friends for all Andrew knew. Containing any excitement he felt over meeting Naerved was easy when the dragon was stressed and upset, but Andrew didn't want him to leave. It had been centuries, there would be such a culture shock for him.
"You can't go around as a giant lizard," Andrew said, running to catch up with the dragon. "You'll scare people."
Towards The Sunset -
But Neil was tired after eight rounds of Kevin's stupid drills, ready to fall over and sleep for years. He dragged himself away from the rows of hurdles, heading towards the fence at the edge of the training grounds, to where Andrew was sitting, arms folded over the top and legs swinging off the ground. He couldn't stop panting, and it was almost embarrassing, but Neil was too tired to care.
"Having fun?" Andrew asked around his cigarette.
"Whatever Kevin's goal is," Neil said through gasping breaths, "it sucks."
Andrew grunted, blowing smoke into the air. "This isn't even the hard part."
"The race will be easy," Neil argued, folding all of his legs underneath his body so that he could lay down, leaning against the fence.
"You haven't practiced with a rider."
"I won't have one."
Andrew flicked his cigarette onto the dirt in front of him. "You need one. They won't let you in unless you have one."
Neil scoffed, too tired to argue at the moment. Wymack had already talked about taking care of that. Neil didn't want a rider because he didn't want someone trying to direct him. He ran so much better when he ran alone. The practice with Renee had been awful, and everyone knew it.
"Fine."
Neil blinked, looking at Andrew as he climbed off the fence. "Fine?" he repeated.
"Keep practicing," Andrew said. "I'll be your rider."
"What? No - that's not happening," Neil said, quickly getting on his hooves, tail flicking in irritation. "I'm not letting anyone ride me."
"I know. Get ready." Andrew started walking towards the barn. "It'll be slow if I'm walking."
House Hunter's Fic -
"So, can you tell me what you're looking for?" Chloe asked, picking up her pen so that she could write things down.
"Three bedrooms," Neil made sure to mention. "Two bathrooms would be nice."
"I want my own bathroom," Andrew said, face blank. Neil somehow kept from snorting.
"Alright," Chloe said. "How about a yard?"
"Oh, yeah," Neil said, nodding. "We need to have a pool."
Andrew nodded in agreement. "Some space for the kids to run around."
"You two have kids?" Chloe asked.
They didn't answer that question. "I think the most important thing for me is to have a place I can practice," Neil said. "Like, a mini court, or something."
"And I need bedrooms far enough away that I can't hear the noise."
"We'll need a big kitchen, too - "
" - with a huge freezer - "
" - but make sure there's a gas stove, we can't use electric ones after that one time - "
" - and I need an attic."
They paused, letting Chloe finish writing down her notes. She somehow looked both shocked and annoyed. "Um, and what's your budget?" she hesitantly asked.
"Ten million," Neil and Andrew said at the same time.
i am not joking we need to force teach cooking in schools. like. it is an essential thing for survival. do you know how easy it is to make things if you know even the bare bones shit about how cooking works. we need to teach teenagers how far you can take an onion and some other veggies it’’s sad that people grow up not knowing how to prepare literally anything. and i’m not talking about oh this home ed class taught me how to make chicken nuggets at home i’m talking about learning the balancing of sweetness and acidity and saltiness and bitterness and shit like that and techniques and oil temperatures and how meats cook. it needs to be taught because it’s literally not even that difficult and it matters so much
i truly believe that knowing how to cook is a basic survival concept and the fact that so many people can’t even make simple dishes is depressing as hell this is the sorta thing that should be taught at a young age. being able to take the ingredients you have around your home and turn them into a meal is like, essential and will make life so much better. you don’t need to be a high end chef you just need to understand some things that can be easily taught… but then again maybe the education system is playing a roll against this and ultimately they want you to grow up to rely on mcdonalds for dinner. i don’t know. please learn how to cook for yourself if you’re able. i’m not asking you to hunt for specific ingredients to make some expensive youtuber’s “best” recipe but if you know the basics of cooking you can do a lot with cheap canned ingredients. cooking can be affordable i promise you just need to learn how to make do with what you can get
