âIâd never leave ya,â Charlie said, smirking as he looked down at the blonde. His tone was light, but he realized he meant it, and that was the scary partâ he felt an attachment to Vivian that he hadnât seen coming. If anything, it hit him like a train. It was troubling for more than one reason: she was young and he wasnât, he had a kid alarmingly-close to her age, and for all he knew, she had someone else in her life to turn to whenever he wasnât around. Not that Charlie was any different, free of commitments and never properly settling down, but he still felt a twinge of jealousy, which he quickly shook off. âSomethinâ tells me that if I wanted to see you naked, I wouldnât have to get you skinny dipping,â he teased, and took a drink from his own plastic cup of beer. On stage, the singer was getting into the first verse of her next song. âBut, yâknow, since everyoneâs over here for the show, Iâm willing to bet the end of the beach is lookinâ pretty empty right about nowâŠâ He let the word trail off, turning to look at the stage once again. Vivian was clearly enjoying herself, so if she wanted to stick around for the show, heâd have no qualms, but he also liked being alone with her, away from prying (or judgmental) eyes. If he wanted to get close to her, to kiss her, could he even do that here? In public? He didnât know how he felt about it, or how she did. They werenât even a couple, after all. Not strangers, either. They were just⊠somewhere in-between.
Vivian ever so slightly rolled her eyes, along with a couple of shakes of her head, clearly not believing him. A small chuckled followed before she laughed. âIâm not surprised; no one can really leave me.â The blonde teased back, taking his statement as an obvious joke. Because, even though she knew he had looked her differently than most other women in his bar, she was still just a young woman he wanted to take to his bed. All of the magic, as she recalled calling it, would disappear after that. Charlie was a bachelor, a man who perhaps wanted many things, but to lose his freedom wasnât on the menu. But then, it wasnât something Vivian wanted as well, and it was beyond her why she was even thinking in that way about him? About this between them being something more than just a casual fling? âOh, look at him, so confident about knowing what could make me lose my clothes,â but she didnât know what she wanted, or actually, when she wanted it. To be entangled in his sheets, their bodies wrapped around each other, his hands on her back, yes, she definitely wanted that, but when... it was a bit of problem. Charlie got under her skin and it wasnât meaningless for her, she was well aware of it, and that was confusing, not to mention how scared she was because of it. âFine, take me to the end of the beach.â The blonde was fearless, and she would not allow for something so trivial as feelings to stop her from having any fun. That fear would have to be put under her control, just like sheâd have to start looking at Charlie as just yet another man in her life.. all of the feelings she had for him would have to be ignored. How he got to her in such a way was beyond her, but damn that night at his porch. And the way his lips felt against hers.
