It took me about 1000 tries to figure that TSRW is a effing liar. It doesn’t show SH!TE right, and makes you think you’re doing something wrong, cuz glasses always show up opaque & black there.
But this is how I went about it, crashes free:
In TSRW, clone one of the basegame glasses.
Import your custom mesh in 2 groups like normal – usually the frame is group_0 and the glass lens is group_1.
Do not try to change the shaders in the Material Editor – TSRW won’t let you.
Just make your translucent multiplier, import your mask and specular; your MLD and LLD meshes, and Export it like normal.
Open your package file in S3PE (I convert my sims3packs, cuz eff the Launcher, but you can also do this in TSRW from Edit > Project Contents),
However you go about it, once you’re in S3PE, scroll down to GEOM. Click the ones that correspond to group_1 (the lens group – it’s usually every other one, for the VHLD, HLD, MLD & LLD lods), and click the Grid button at the bottom.
The dropdown lists will open, and click till you get to the Shaders. Change it to the SimsHair shader there. It will activate the translucent multiplier you used, to make the glasses lens recolorable.
Boom. 😎
