We had a lovely time visiting Weardale during the summer. We travelled from Wolsingham to Stanhope on the heritage Weardale Railway. All three stations along the way are well maintained. This view at Wolsingham was particularly apt, but there were also lots of lovely touches at Stanhope Station as well. After the 30-minute train journey, we wandered around Stanhope station, and visited the town for something to eat. It was a Sunday, but most places we're open and there were plenty of people about. We found the town's original Market Cross in the church yard, straight opposite from the castle. We had a snack at the railway station before heading back to Wolsingham to embark on our journey home. All in all a fantastic day out. #durham #weardale #railway #stanhope #wolsingham #daysout #train #station #market (at Weardale Railways)

LYLM2015 – an international campaign “Love your local market 2015 (LYLM2015)” is an international campaign to promote the awareness of markets, market halls and the like. It started in 2012 in the UK and is now spreading across many countries in Europe and the US. Many parties…
Central Market Hall, Budapest Budapest was bustling, and nowhere more so than he central market. We journeyed across the Danube via Liberty Bridge on a tram which stopped directly outside the large, impressive market hall, perched on the riverbank. The doors were covered in a curtain to stop the cold from outside peeking into the market, but once you walked through those curtains, my what an impressive site. There was two floors of enthusiastic, polite, cheerful stall holders with a vast offering from memorabilia, crafts, jewellery, bags, clothes to fruit, vegetables and meat, as well as food from around the world. The choice was impressive. If the fun and character of markets is the people, Budapest's Central Market certainly scored top marks in every respect. For anyone visiting the city, I would highly recommend a visit to any of the city's markets, but particularly to the Central Market Hall.

Love Your Local Market was great fun this year. And it went international for the first time ever! We're busy working on some photos which we'll be uploading to our Web site and the Grainger Market Web site over the next few days, so take a look and have a browse of some of your Grainger Market traders enjoying Love Your Local Market 2015. We're also going to be adding some of the photos to our profile page here on Instagram as well. And finally, thank you to everyone for your support of the Grainger Market, during Love Your Local fortnight and beyond. #lylm2015 #graingermarket #newcastle #vjwjewellery (at Grainger Market)
North Shields Fish Market This fish market is based on North Shields Fish Quay. It's a trade market, which includes fish auctions. North Shields is a working fish port and you can sometimes see the day's catch being landed and traded at the market. The wider Fish Quay has a lovely atmosphere and is fantastic to visit. There are numerous shops selling wet fish, restaurants, bars, a heritage centre at the Old Low Light as well as a diverse range of other businesses.

For Love Your Local Market fortnight, we headed off to the Portobello Road who are celebrating the 150th year of the markets of Portobello and Golborne being trading places for West London. We hope that you enjoy this sweet video that highlights the fantastic launch event that the we were privileged to attend earlier in the year.
Joining us for our Love Your Local Market event, where the team from Small Business Saturday who worked alongside us to deliver an ‘Inspire Series’ in Tavistock Square. Look out for some content coming up on our Youtube Channel to hear from the panel of business experts and traders who turned up on the day.
One of the key messages of the day however was to encourage market traders to apply to be one of the Small Biz 100. For the last two years, the 100 have not only received exposure on the Small Business Saturday social media channels and in the local press, but also joined the team in London at a reception in Downing Street and a special Christmas Market held outside the Prime Ministers door too.
We would strongly urge the great businesses that we have trading on the nations markets to apply for this level of exposure. Applications for 2015 will open on June 1st, 2015 and you can find out more on the SBSUK website:

Het stadhuis van Gouda The centre of Gouda is dominated by its large and impressive marketplace. Roundly locate in the centre of town, the life of the city, the canals, streets, shops and housing all radiate out from the marketplace: A walk from the train station down the high street leads you straight here. The marketplace itself is ringed by cafes and stalls and is bustling with life. The marketplace itself is dominated by the large town hall built in the fifteenth century, pictured above. Also of note in the immediate vicinity is the old cheese weigh house (de Goudse Waag): The building has now been turned into a restaurant. The market is held here on Thursdays and Saturdays, with a special cheese market held on Thursdays between 10am and 1pm during the summer months, with information and activities at the tourist information centre (VVV, inside the old Cheese Weigh House) from 1pm.
We had a fabulous time visiting Delft's Warenmarkt! There's actually a few different markets held in Delft throughout the week, but the biggest is held on Thursdays on the marketplace. There's over 100 stalls selling everything from books to clothes, cheese to fresh produce. We took a particular fancy for the tasty muffins. You can find more information about Delft Market on their local authority's Web site: http://www.delft.nl/Inwoners/Cultuur_sport_en_vrije_tijd/Vrije_tijd/Markten_in_Delft Just as a side note, Delft itself is a lovely city and well worth a visit. The first time we went, we made a particular trip because it was market day, but you could easily spend much longer there. There are so many different things to do, the city is full of history, it's great for culture and a fantastic destination for something different. The city is close to Den Haag, easily accessible from there by tram, train and bus. From he train station there are connections to most large and medium-sized Ditch cities,
Our visit to the Kleinmarkthalle in Frankfurt. We visited Europe's financial capital and home to the ECB by rail in a futuristic ICE train. One of the highlights of our trip was visiting to the Kleinmarkthalle. The inside of the market hall is bursting with colour. There's fruit and vegetables from all over the world, and herbs and spices from every corner of the Earth. We'd recommend a visit to anybody in the Frankfurt area.
