Het stadhuis van Gouda The centre of Gouda is dominated by its large and impressive marketplace. Roundly locate in the centre of town, the life of the city, the canals, streets, shops and housing all radiate out from the marketplace: A walk from the train station down the high street leads you straight here. The marketplace itself is ringed by cafes and stalls and is bustling with life. The marketplace itself is dominated by the large town hall built in the fifteenth century, pictured above. Also of note in the immediate vicinity is the old cheese weigh house (de Goudse Waag): The building has now been turned into a restaurant. The market is held here on Thursdays and Saturdays, with a special cheese market held on Thursdays between 10am and 1pm during the summer months, with information and activities at the tourist information centre (VVV, inside the old Cheese Weigh House) from 1pm.
