sungyeol closes his laptop with a decisive snap once the heist, as he likes to call it, is over. he’s sitting in the car, their rendezvous point, and feeling the usual smugness at a job well done.
not that he ever expected things to go sour. at least, not on his end. at this point, there is very little that throws sungyeol off his groove. the thought of actually having a challenge thrown his way for a change is tantalizing, however, but it’s best not to get his hopes up. no good ever comes from that.
“so, how about you treat me to some food now?” he asks sera from over the comm. “i’m in no position to do any cooking right now --- my fingers are stiff. also, i deserve it. there were a lot of security systems up; not that it was hard, but it was a lot of work to do all at once.”
sungyeol doesn’t even have the energy to tap his fingers, that’s how bad it is. see, this is exactly why he has an extreme aversion to any form of exercise ever. his joints get all achy. it’s annoying, quite frankly, but it will be worth it if sera pulls through and actually cooks something for him. instant ramen is good and all, but there comes a time when it tastes stale after having it so much.
“hey, are you dragging your feet or something?” sungyeol complains, bouncing his head against the headrest out of sheer boredom. “my ass is getting numb here.” which, he’ll admit privately, is not something he should be whining about when sera was the one who did all the heavy-lifting --- but he’s more concerned about himself at the moment.
he looks out the windshield, sighing as his feet begin to tap. he’s not exactly the most patient person out there, and that’s putting it mildly, but that’s all he can do right now. unfortunately.
i had a LOT of fun writing this you don’t understand
imagine yeol asking jess to stop at a fast food joint and jess constantly threatening to throw him out of the car and her driver being very, very confused
phobia drabble prompts.BRONTOPHOBIA: our muses are caught in a storm together.
when sungyeol successfully manages to get his target to keel over, he tends to celebrate. treat himself. go eat out at a greasy fast food joint or buy something nice for his laptop. or maybe buy yet another laptop for his collection of laptops.
what he doesn’t do is stand outside the building like a complete and utter moron, because that would be stupid and decidedly uncool, should his latest target stumble upon him. “well hi again, target. i’m standing outside your workplace after putting the fear of god in you because i was stupid enough to forget my umbrella.” awkward, much?
but there he is anyway, glaring at the fat raindrops that fall inches away from his sneakers. sungyeol can stand getting a little wet, but he had worn his favourite leather jacket, the one that makes him look real badass. he can’t afford to get it wet, and with the storm that’s raging outside, it will definitely get ruined. no way he’s letting that happen.
it looks like he’ll be there for the long haul, but then there’s movement from the corner of his eye, and he turns to see a brunette bombshell exit the building. the scowl that tugs at her lips once she notices the rainstorm is impressive.
“my thoughts exactly,” sungyeol finds himself saying, totally unprepared for the dark gaze that pins him where he stands. “you… wouldn’t happen to have a spare umbrella on you, would you?”
the woman blinks, as if surprised he has the wherewithal to strike up a conversation with her. “i don’t,” she replies, succinct and to the point. “i’m waiting for my driver to pick me up.”
his brows raise rather high at that. “driver. nice. wish i had one right about now.” there’s a brief silence, before he attempts to fill it. he’s bored, it’s raining, and she’s easy on the eyes. why not? “you work here or something, then?”
the woman doesn’t even turn towards him this time, staring resolutely out at the rain instead, as if willing it to stop. “i’m only here for a meeting.”
“a meeting, huh?” he sticks his hands in the pockets of his jeans. “same here, actually.” which is true, more or less.
she doesn’t seem to buy it, however. her eyes rove his form, and not appreciatively. “you aren’t exactly dressed the part,” she comments.
so she has a head on her shoulders. good to know. “i feel a little violated, you know,” he says. “my eyes are up here.” this earns him an eyeroll. “what? i’m not a huge fan of suits, okay? leather jackets are all the rage these days, anyway.”
“they might be, but they aren’t exactly suitable for the workplace,” she comments, before taking her phone out. not even waiting for him to reply.
is this how other people feel when he snubs them? what an aggravating feeling.
the woman frowns down at her phone, closing it and tossing it in her purse with a huff. “what, is your driver late or something?”
she looks at him from her peripherals. “yes, and it’s not the first time.”
“you should fire them. i mean, not only do you have to stand outside while it’s raining, but you have to put up with some handsome guy who won’t shut up.” he pauses, as if thinking his words over. “well, i mean, the second thing is not so bad, but the first? annoying as all hell. i should know; i’ve been standing here for the past five minutes.”
the woman scoffs, but sungyeol notices that her lips give the slightest tug upwards. she’s amused, at least infinitesimally. and of course she is. he has that charm.
a silence overtakes them, though not a stony one, and sungyeol opens his mouth to make another observation when a car parks itself near them. the driver hurries out, opening an umbrella, and the woman moves to meet him.
“hey,” sungyeol calls out, before he can think better of it. “at least tell me your name before you go?”
at first, it doesn’t look as if she will. but then she turns. “sooyeon,” she says, then opens the car door and gets inside. sungyeol lets out a surprised laugh, leans against the wall. he isn’t done waiting, after all.
the driver closes the umbrella and enters the vehicle himself, though for some reason it doesn’t take off. he quirks a brow.
all of a sudden the passenger side window rolls down, and sooyeon’s there, looking resigned. “get in.”
sungyeol stares. “seriously?”
“quickly, before i change my mind.”
he does just that, though tries not to look like he’s rushing. that would not be cool, and he’s got an image to uphold.
phobia drabble prompts.AGLIOPHOBIA: my muse nurses yours after an injury.
“that looks like it’s going to be a huge bruise in the morning,” sungyeol comments from where he sits, head held up with a fist. “maybe you should have…ducked, or something.”
sera dabs said bruise gently with a cotton ball. “i ducked the first one,” she says, sounding rather proud of herself. “i didn’t get the same opportunity for the second punch.”
the hacker hums at that. “yeah, well, at least the other guy’s down for the count. or so i’m guessing.”
“yup. he’s definitely in a lot more pain than i am right now.”
“no, no, no — you’re supposed to say something cool like you should see the other guy. i gave you the perfect opportunity for that, and you squandered it.”
the detective rolls her eyes. “that’s not cool. it’s trite and cliché,” she says, then fumbles with the gauze, the other hand holding up her handheld mirror so that she can see what she’s doing. “okay, so now i just…”
sungyeol watches her struggle for a moment, before scoffing. “how are you so bad at patching yourself up?” he gets up from his chair and goes around to grab the gauze from her. “are you sure you get anything done without me?”
“it’s a little hard to patch myself up with one hand, you know!” sera counters.
“sure. if that helps you sleep at night. now hold still, or you can do this on your own.”
using your skill, you are able to hack and infiltrate an important business man’s computer. on the hard-drive, you find a variety of pictures, questionable meetings, and tips of information that could be detrimental to the man’s reputation. what they entail is entirely up to you, and what you do with it also falls on you. however, you must use whatever information you have ( don’t leave a trace that you were there! ), and blackmail and threaten the man into giving you any information they have on han chaeyoung, who is a big name they have been said to be doing deals with. it is highly imperative you find out any information you can, as well as ensure your affiliation is kept hidden. do your best, and best of luck!
“who do you think you are?”
how original. it’s not like you haven’t heard that one before. this man deserves a round of an applause! or maybe a trophy! most original dialogue or something.
instead of saying anything along those lines, however, you merely rest your feet atop the glass table separating you from the livid businessman. “you could say i’m a...concerned third party,” you reply. “and very interested in this han chaejun guy.”
the businessman (lim doowon? dohyun? something like that) deadpans at that. “you mean han chaeyoung,” he corrects, a touch of disbelief colouring his tone. oops.
you flap a hand. “chaejung, chaeyoung, same deal,” you say. “he’s still the guy i’m interested in knowing more about. so. spill. dish. whatever verb you prefer. anything you know about him will suffice; what cologne he wears, how many pets he has, if he plays bridge on the weekends --- and don’t lie. i don’t like liars, and i’ll know if you’re lying.” it takes one to know one, after all.
doowon/dohyun/something reclines back in his seat, scoffing, but sweat beads on his temple. “i don’t know who you’re talking about, boy,” he spits. “now get out of my office before i call security.”
“hey, whoa, rude much? after i’ve been so courteous? i scheduled a meeting with you and everything!” well, more like hacked into his secretary’s computer and stolen a meeting slot, but what doowon doesn’t know won’t hurt him.
“get out. now.”
you raise your hands in surrender. “alright, fine. i’ll leave. but just know that once i leave, these will be all over the media soon after.” you throw the file you’ve been holding on the table once you take your legs off, and stand, making your way out of the businessman’s office.
all the while, you begin counting down. three. two. one.
“how the fuck did you get this?” shouts doowon from behind you, voice shaky and panicked.
you smirk, then pivot slowly on the heels of your sneakers. “wouldn’t you like to know?” you say mysteriously. “have to say though, all work and no play makes you a very dull boy. sure would suck if all your golf buddies and business partners found out about the illicit activities you’ve been up to. all those shady deals you’ve been making. and i’m sure your wife would love to know about the women and men you’re seeing behind her back.” a finger taps your chin thoughtfully. “with this much dirt, you would probably end up in jail, divorced, and without all your assets and clients.”
dohyun’s face turns an alarming shade of red --- anger? embarrassment? a bit of both? who knows. who cares.
“why are you doing this?” he asks eventually, as he collapses into his seat, his head in his hands.
ah, yet another original line. where’s that trophy? perhaps you’ll mail it to him after everything has been said and done. if you remember, and are bored enough.
you shrug. “does it matter? bottom line is that i am doing this, and unless you don’t want your entire life to be ruined, you’ll tell me what i want to know. otherwise...” you trail off meaningfully.
his head lifts, and there’s a glint in his eye that you really don’t like. best to nip whatever nefarious plan he has in mind right out the bud.
“oh, and don’t think that if you kill me, everything will be dandy. i’ve put security measures in place --- if i don’t leave this building within the next five hours, then all the dirt i have on you will automatically be sent to every news station in seoul.”
you can pinpoint the moment doowon becomes resigned to his fate, unable to rid yourself of the sheer disappointment that fills you at the sight. what, no retaliation? he doesn’t put up a single fight? wonder whether you’re bluffing? boring.
but then, you hadn’t been expecting anything to begin with. businessmen don’t exactly have much tenacity, you’ve found. aim for their winsome reputation and they roll over in seconds.
dohyun sighs; a bone-weary sound. “what do you want to know about han chaeyoung?”
you grin wolfishly, then swagger back into your seat and kick your feet on the table. “now we’re talking.”
hey all! i’m joy! yeol’s my second character --- you might know me on hyoyeon. c: feel free to like this post if you’d like to plot, or add me on skype! i’m barrywests on there.
