Mina walked briskly her heels clicking on the concrete as she moved. She had worked late yet again and now it was nearing midnight. It was easy to get paranoid in her line of work and even easier when walking home alone. She couldn’t shake the feeling that she was being followed. Mina increased her pace a bit, before making a sharp turn and facing the pedestrian behind her.
“Are you following me?” She didn’t mince words, looking the stranger head-on.
Shit. He’d only hoped his heavy-footing hadn’t been obvious as he marched after the brunette. A touch buzzed and otherwise completely oblivious to just how creepy it all felt, he raised his hands (phone tucked haphazardly in one) and took an intentionally wobbly step back.
“I’m juss try’na get some food, lady,” he offered, a smile surfacing despite the obvious tension. A wiggle of his phone gave a blurry indication of his open maps app. “Isn’ there a pizza joint this way?”
