I feel a bit sorry for Allie Long. She hasn’t officially retired, but it seems like she’s quietly faded from the spotlight. Beat Everyone has shut down, and from what I understand, she and her partner no longer own their wellness spa. It’s not about comparing her to her former teammates, but it’s noticeable—Kelley O’Hara is hosting her own podcast, Alex Morgan is a minority owner of a club, Ali Krieger is working as a pundit, and Tobin and Christen are running re–inc. Meanwhile, Allie doesn’t appear to be using her football knowledge or experience in any public way.

Of course, this could very well be her choice. Maybe she’s happy living a quieter life in Montana, away from the spotlight. But it can’t be easy watching close friends and former teammates stay so actively involved and invested in the women’s game, especially after dedicating so many years to it herself.

Very honestly, I haven't thought about Allie Long in a good minute. The last thing I remember hearing about her is that she had twins and then after that I kinda stopped seeing her. Like you said, it could very well be her choice to take a step back from the soccer spotlight.

Generally speaking, though, I do think it's crazy to see how some players can continue to be in the spotlight off the field, and some can fade away from it.
