What Volt Could've Been
Brace yourselves, you are about to witness the horrid concepts we thought of before Volt came to fruition. 1. Dizztorted Inspired by the idea of making a funky named website, Dizztorted came along as a mashup of distorted and dizzle. I'll start from the beginning regarding the problems. The name itself would be autocorrected on iOS and Mac OS X, making it really hard to go to the actual URL without having to do somthing before going to it. The logo itself would make a graphic designer commit suicide with the amount of drop shadow and useless use of gradient. Or in other words, it looks like it was compiled by a four year old. I also thought it was way too long. This ended up being the gateway into the idea of a one-syllable name. 2. The Network Going with a more conventional and less adventurous look, The Network was always going to be a problem from day one. Whilst the logo concept is alright, the domain was never going to be available and with the name being long enough, we'd rather not extend it to somthing like "the networksite.com." 3. Hurdle.it I didn't even start the concepts on this. It was more just a thought as I was making my morning commute into the city. I quickly dropped the idea because it just wasn't enough. [PS: That domain is available]. YUCK! I honestly don't know how I came up with those. This was all middle of 2011 by the way, so its not like they were done in an act of desperation. I guess I just had a free flowing mind willing to try out anything, which is good I guess. Because you don't know until you try! - Rory
