Columbus Gives Back makes it fun and easy to volunteer! We organize one-time volunteer events in relaxed, social settings that are scheduled to fit our busy schedules. We sometimes find volunteer opportunities that are outside the scope of formal CGB events. We post those here!

Columbus Gives Back is always excited to support See Kids Dream and their mission to empower young students around Columbus to make their own difference in the community. After another phenomenal year of programming, we encourage you to consider volunteering for their culminating event, the “Power of the Penny” to showcase the accomplishments of local students after a year-long service learning project! CELC Color-a-thon

Join CELC for a colorful fundraiser! Grab your coloring books and art supplies and come to Wild Goose Creative for a fun day of coloring in support of Columbus Early Learning Centers. Music and Movies will be playing as well. Some supplies will be available for use, but it is recommended that you bring your own coloring supplies. Registration is $25 per individual and $40 per family for the day, with a recommended $5/hour fundraising sponsorship. Prizes will be given to our top fundraisers, so fill up that sponsorship sheet! Registration includes light breakfast, lunch, and beverages. Seating is limited, so buy your tickets today! Once your ticket is purchased, the sponsorship sheet will be sent to your registered email.

YMCA Early Childhood Resource Network

Columbus Gives Back is excited to partner with the YMCA's Early Childhood Resource Newtork+ (ECRN+) so support children with special needs and their families. One such way you can be a part of this partnership is by volunteering as a 'buddy' for the ECRN+ monthly Parents' Night Out at the Grove City YMCA (3600 Discovery Dr, Grove City, OH 43123). We need people who are interested in being a "buddy" to a child with special needs. During the night the kids will have the opportunity to play with others, do crafts, eat dinner, swim (if old enough) and watch a movie.

YWCA is looking for volunteers for a Parents’ Night Out

We are looking for "Buddy" Volunteers for our monthly parent's night out for families of children with special needs. Each child with special needs is partnered with a Buddy who provides encouragement, support and fun through throughout the evening. On the 3rd Saturday of each month, ECRN+ provides parents of children with special needs an evening of respite while their children enjoy swimming, arts and crafts, and social activities with their peers. Each evening is filled with activities for Buddies to socialize with one another while serving their partnered child. Ideally, we would love for Buddies to participate on a regular basis, as they also have fun building and fostering new relationships with our children and gaining a beautiful perspective on life.

Number of volunteers needed: We would welcome any amount but would prefer 5+.

Suits for Success

Suits for Success provides free professional attire to current and former foster youth who are preparing to enter the workforce. OnSaturday, July 9, we are planning to sort the suits donations we received. Suits for Success ~ Suit Sorting Day is scheduled to take place: - On Saturday July 9, 2016 - From 10 am - 3 pm - At the United Methodist Children's Home, which is located at 1033 High St, Worthington, OH 43085 

We need about 15-20 volunteers to help. The task will be to sort and label the suits donations by size.

Why raceBALL?

raceBALL is a charity event you can feel good about.

As an event completely coordinated and run by volunteers, raceBALL is being put on to raise money for The A Team to support the 2016 Central Ohio Man & Woman of the Year campaign benefiting The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the largest voluntary cancer research agency specifically focused on finding cures and better treatments for blood cancer patients. With the scope and scale to fund many projects at the same time, LLS supports hundreds of cancer scientists around the world.  You can learn more about the Central Ohio LLS Chapter here.

Faith Mission Kitchen Garden - Planting Project

Please join us at the Faith Mission Kitchen Garden located at 599 E. 8th Ave on May 13 from 2pm to 5pm. We will be pulling weeds, cleaning up plant beds and planting seeds! Feel free to bring family and friends ONLY if they are 14 years or older.

Volunteer at Summer Jam Westgate

Summer Jam Westgate is a Free arts and music festival held on July 11th from 11 am until 7pm in Westgate Park.  

We have many free activities for the kids all day including a free art zone and free face painting.  We’re looking for two-four volunteers to help with face painting (some experience necessary), and 2 - 4 volunteers to help out in the art zone.

Volunteer at Crawl for Cancer 2015

Good afternoon Columbus Crawlunteers!!

Spring is coming and it's been too long since we have seen your beautiful volunteering faces. And now it's time for the best day of the year! Mark your calendars and get your orange shirt... the Columbus Crawl for Cancer is Saturday, May 23, 2015!

As always, this would not be One Perfect Day without our fabulous volunteers. We appreciate all you do to make this a successful event to raise funds for local cancer charities, and make it fun and safe for all of our crawlers!

There are two options for volunteer shifts on that Saturday: the Crawl shift is during the day, 11am to 5pm, and the after party shift is 4:30pm-7pm. Please let me know which shift you would prefer. We will also need some volunteers to help out on Friday afternoon for t-shirt handout as well. 

We would love to have you help out wherever you can! If you would like to be one of our awesome volunteers for this crawl, please send me an email letting me know that you are in! Please note if you have friends you would like to volunteer with and if you have a bar preference as well.

May 21st Full Scale Exercise Central Ohio Region Healthcare Coalition

Over 200 volunteers needed on May 21!

The Central Ohio Trauma System and the Central Region Healthcare Coalition are conducting a Full Scale Exercise. This exer-cise will provide an opportunity for the Central Ohio Healthcare Coali-tion and regional hospitals to evaluate their emergency operations plans by responding to a simulated pandemic influenza incident Vol-unteer actors play an important role in exercises and help provide as close to real world situations as possible. Volunteers will be processed as victims at each healthcare facility to test surge planning. Volunteers will convene at the Vineyard Church in Westerville to be registered and assigned a hospital.

From the Vineyard, volunteers will be transported via COTA busses to participating hospitals and healthcare facilities.

When: May 21st, 2015 at 7am till approx. 1-2pm

 Where: All volunteers will report to Vineyard Columbus 6000 Cooper Rd., Westerville, Ohio

Who: Volunteers must be 18 or older.

Several reminder emails will go out through the month leading up to the exercise. Details with directions, parking and more information will be included in those emails.

Lifetown Columbus

Students with disabilities visit LifeTown with their schools to learn and practice important life skills.  Volunteers get "hands-on" experience helping the students with disabilities learn and practice the skills regarding  financial literacy, time management, socialization, pedestrian and bike safety, healthy lifestyle, oral hygiene and much more.  Volunteers are needed from 9:30AM - noon Monday - Friday.
