Ever since the miasma had taken her over, Lilith hadn’t felt different than usual. Rather, she’d felt as though her usual feelings had been enhanced. Her bloodlust was nearly insatiable, and her games had turned far from innocent – or rather, there were no innocent games anymore. Everything ended in death or severe injury, just as she liked it.
She couldn’t seem to find her master, and her mind had already wandered to entertain the thought that he too, had been caught in the miasma. What would he be like? She already knew that he was pretty bad, but could he get worse? She wanted to see, but for now, for now she had her eyes one someone else.
Lilith had simply been flying around, looking for something to do when she hear a wild voice, and upon further investigation, saw that it belonged to a man with white hair, talking to himself! And the words he said, how interesting they sounded to her! She lowered herself to the ground, hiding behind a building when suddenly—
“Oh, welcome to the show, kid! So, who is tonight’s lucky bastard?”
Lilith creeped her fingers around the edge of the building first, one by one, to show her presence, but dragging out the act of actually bringing herself out. Then, her foot, more of her leg, everything ever so slowly and suddenly—! Her head, leaning to the side, a mad grin decorating her face.
“I’d say the lucky bastard is you actually! You get to play in my game! You’re going to be the guest of honor!”
A giggle escaped her lips as she stepped out, digits pressed against each other in a tent shape as she walked towards him, her wings turning into blades as she did so.
“Your beautiful crimson red blood, will you show it to me?”
It seemed like insanity could only attract the same kind of twisted behavior, and it made him glad to see such an interesting lady approach him. Her wings were not outstanding, well not for somebody like him, but still a rare sight. Wings were supposedly hard to create through genetic manipulation, and he doubted that was her case.
If he had once met a little angel, this one charming individual could be described as a demon.
"Really, lady? I'm more than happy to join yer game, then! Especially because ya' seem to play by the same rules," and he could see so much of himself in her, since she was putting up some nice theatrics just for him! It was the start of a beautiful show. "But first, let's see if ya' are a good actress, shall we?"
He took out both his guns at once, realising that she was dangerous. There was no need for introductions -- they were both too hyper for that.
"Then... Maybe I might just give ya' all my blood!" Getting hurt by those sharp wings wasn't his worst fear, but it would certainly raise his adrenaline level. Mimicking her grin, the albino shot twice, still distant from her even though she ran to attack him. He needed to find out who he was dealing with.
If she could evade the bullets and still damage him... Now, that would be nice.

How interesting.
The very few insects on the street were staring at one loud individual. Due to the obscenities the man was screaming, it was safe to assume he wasn’t the friendliest. Which frankly didn’t matter to Jellal, seeing as personality was not an issue. All that mattered was that they were all squashed like the bugs they were.
He strode closer, his intentions quite obvious from the aura that seemed to ooze out of every pore. Everything about him screamed ‘danger’, but most citizens wouldn’t heed that. They paid him no mind, instead fearfully watching the man as he continued to taunt.
Only when he was close enough did he finally recognize the albino, the title jumping to mind. He didn’t recall his Master being quite so…obnoxious. But then again, in his current state, certain memories were completely lost. Still…he tilted his head in mild amusement.
“Oh, welcome to the show, kid! So, whose is tonight’s lucky bastard?”
Was he challenging normal civilians? What a wasted endeavor. There was nothing good to come out of challenging these worms to a fight, other than their possible death. Apparently, his Master had gotten stupid. The only thing keeping Jellal from turning the taller man to dust was the knowledge that both were needed in order to receive the grail.
Of course, this knowledge and low form of self-control was wavering, and the only thing that stayed constant in his mind was death. Without any form of hesitation, he held up both of his gloved hands. The familiar rush of power fled to his fingertips, the magic building up in the form of three individual beams of light. At his non-verbal command, all three shot forward from his palms with the intention of tearing holes through the albino.
What a lucky night! He could finally see Haine's servant in action, and more importantly, he could test him. This would prove useful when dealing with opponents in the future, and he could use the excuse 'but I've seen him fight before!' to convince Haine to let him take control. Ah, it was a blessing that the master didn't get any memories of what happened to the Kerberos, while he knew everything Haine was going through or thinking.
But no servant should attack its master. Well, he would have to train his host's subordinate, a lesson that he wouldn't ever forget. Dammit, Haine, always leaving me the hard work!, he thought before easily dodging the unknown magic.
"Pretty lights, huh. But Caster, don't ya' know anythin' about loyalty?" He began, until he saw the tired smile on Jellal's face, and the blood in his clothes. These were the known eyes of a killer. How many did he murder? "Ah, no, that ain't it," he judged, trying to put on a serious face but failing terribly at it.
"Ya' were also affected by this weather thingy!" He laughed audibly. Gosh, his cheeks were already hurting from so much fun! And the Grail did a great match with these two, didn't it? They would easily lose their minds, and the Black Dog was so tempted to kill Jellal just so that Haine wouldn't be in the war anymore... But maybe he proved to be interesting to watch. Who knew, right?
He finally calmed down his laughter, an air of superiority stamped in his face. The entire city was at war, and he was delighted by that thought. So much that he had to provoke his servant even more, if only that would make things worse.
"What else can ya' make? Don't hold back, Caster!" as if setting the stage for battle, he invited. It seemed like he would be in the audience tonight! Maybe he'd even let one of these beautiful lights strike through him, if the play was good enough.

“You’re so loud,”Tate grumbled sullenly.
“Stop screaming.”
This white-headed freak sure was weird. The teenager could’ve sworn he’d heard the man talking to himself… at least, he could only assume that was the case, since there didn’t seem to be anyone the guy had been initially talking to in particular.
There wasn’t even anyone else in the street besides him and the stranger.. so the only reason for why he could’ve been behaving in such a way was madness. Tate had been affected by the broken Grail, as well, but in a rather… different way. He was still able to see that there had definitely been an influx of insanity among the inhabitants of the city.
A pause.
“Whadaya want?”
He’d left the tank of gas a few blocks away, after he’d set an entire building on fire (including a few citizens, as well). Suddenly, Tate regretted it — leaving the tank behind, that is. He didn’t regret killing those people, no, not at all. But the gasoline might’ve become useful… after all, this man didn’t seem particularly weak.
Of course, the albino wouldn’t actually be able to harm him. After all, Tate was a ghost. He’d died years ago, his body carted away once he’d been given a visit by a SWAT team.
But he preferred not to think about it, Violet didn’t like that.
"Did I wake yer momma up, eh?" To his disappointment, the first to appear didn't seem powerful at all. But well, he could still consider it a warm up.
"But yer not exactly what I wanted, ya' know," the question, however, took him by surprise. What he wanted? Hmm... Oh, if he could kill, that would be good enough. If he could destroy the Grail just so that Haine wouldn't have a chance at it, then it would be even better! The boy did not deserve it.
He decided to walk up, fast, to where the other was -- unaware of the stranger's nature. "I can't be picky, though," he began, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand as he spoke, "'cause everybody else will get the good stuff while I'm busy decidin'."
"I will grab onto everythin' that comes my bloody way, and hope one of these bastards can entertain me," he said, fearless, "that's what I want."
"So, are ya' some hot shit? Or just useless?"
"I guess I will find out!" And the albino started running to the ghost teenager, without even bothering to take out his guns. For now, he missed fighting with only his hands -- ripping human skin with only his nails, ah, how he missed it -- and this opponent didn't seem to have any weapons. Even if he did, it was not like the Kerberos would die, so he could always enjoy a little bit of recklessness.
He planned to go for his throat, and to finish it quickly.
Seeing red | "Alter" Event | open!
It felt like an eternity had passed since the last time the Kerberos had full control, and he couldn't help but enjoy the situation.
"So ya' couldn't resist the miasma, huh, boy?" He screamed to himself, pausing slightly only to show his teeth in a wide grin, "and we didn't even have to argue about this! Aw man, that was really good. I was so tired of your bullshit!"
He was alone, in one of the most silent streets, late at night. It would be a great place to attract some stupid servants and masters to fight him, since they were still in the middle of Fuyuki. Gosh, he missed the smell of blood so much! Haine was such a mean host to this sadistic spine, never letting him kill anymore. He liked things better when they were still in Europe.
"This shitty war made ya' soft, Haine-chan! When was the last time ya' taught somebody a good lesson?!" He would teach these silly kids how to make a war and spill some guts, oh he would. He just regretted Haine couldn't watch... that his host would eventually wake up seeing only red. Tch!
Holding his face between his hands, he snapped a loud laughing sound. Ah, he was so happy! And so, he unbandaged his neck, the spine -- that stupid Haine still kept hiding his true nature. The Kerberos would much rather show it off.
What made him feel even better was when he felt someone else's presence.
"Oh, welcome to the show, kid! So, whose is tonight's lucky bastard?" the Black Dog screamed to his audience, wide eyes staring into the dark.
☣ Units
The other participants of this war were quite brutal, weren’t they? She hardly had stepped foot into this city and already, one of her units had been shot down. The cold shivers that coupled the ecstasy that ran down her spine were indicative of her loss. How enchanting… and alarming. In this city, Angelika had no lab. At least not yet. She couldn’t afford to so easily lose another body until she had set up shop.
And she would have to be careful of hiding the only body with the command seal…
“Do I always make such an unbecoming expression when I die? How embarrassing.” Before her was her own lovely image, one of the older models, drenched in death. Alone with no other signs of life, other than the mad scientist herself. She had decided to visit her corpse in her child form, hoping for ‘sympathy’ if the attacker would show his or her face again.
Figuring it safe for now, she took a moment to examine herself. The murderer was quite thorough… she looked more like a hunk of raw meat than a human. Death was beautiful. Even in this form. But the idea of such a uncouth person doing this to her didn’t sit well with her.
“… No time for jokes. If I don’t find my servant soon…” Her hand tangled with the hair streaked with blood, the small ‘girl’ huddling against the body with mild interest.
“I’ll die again.”
The corpse of a woman, and a child standing near it. He was sure he heard screams, and curiosity alongside with boredom took him to this scene. But after getting closer, Haine realised it was much worse than just a tragedy.
She is here, in Fuyuki.
It was when her childish voice spoke out, and if there was one thing he certainly did not want to see again, he realised at this very moment that it was the face of this person. 'Mother'.
He breathed deeply in the smell of blood, reaching for his pistols instinctively. "Lily..." he whispered the name. It wasn't her. That monster couldn't be her, and he knew it very well.
He pointed with the white gun. He could shoot her brains out and she wouldn't speak anymore, or torture her -- after all, that was just a human body. He thought so many awful things, but none of them were clear. "You..." That wasn't Lily.
And it wasn't a human, either.
"I won't let you get to your servant," he growled. Yet he could only stare, shocked and unable to pull the trigger. It had been a good amount of time since he last saw her, and unexpectedly finding the scientist here...
But what could he do? What is the point in killing somebody who enjoys dying over and over again?
No such thing as 「Freedom」
“Only in movies?” He raised an eyebrow, wondering how they managed to actually use Movie Lacrima without Magic. Then again, maybe some different places didn’t use Lacrima. It was a strange concept to him, however, so he merely shook his head.
“I do believe it’s something along those lines, since this world doesn’t seem to have Eternano. I’m unsure how you’re supposed to ‘provide’ this Prana to me, but I suppose it’s something we’ll have to figure out at a later date.” He shrugged. He had a full Magic container at the moment, so he wouldn’t have to worry about running out anytime soon.
Haine. He’d have to remember that. Not too odd a name, considering he had heard worse.
“Very well then, Haine. If that’s what you prefer.”
His eyes lit up with mild interest once his partner stated what abilities he had. Something akin to a zombie, was it? He had only read perhaps one book on such things, and he had found it quite boring. From what he could gather, they were the dead brought back to life, and were nearly unkillable.
“So, are you telling me it’s almost impossible to kill you? That is rather a lucky ability, but it’s going to take a little more than that to impress me.” He leaned back in his chair, waiting to hear his response.
"Tch, yeah, that's not the only thing I can do," he said, ignoring the bit about some etar-- etern-- something. Maybe this guy came out of a fantasy novel, if that's even possible.
"It's all because of this damn spine," he pointed to his bandaged neck.
"Though I do get slightly dizzy if I lose too much blood," he commented, supporting his head on the palm of his hand and watching the street, "But I always come back to life. I have military training, and I can use basically anything you could call a weapon."
He then remembered this guy was probably not familiar with the same kinds of weapons as he was. "Well, at least the stuff from this world."
"And also, improved strength and speed. I was born to be a perfect soldier," he didn't sound pround at all, and instead, just tired. Haine sighed, looking back at Caster. "Are you amused?"
Small Child in a Big City
Reisuke could tell how the expression on the albino’s face had changed. He seemed to have said the right thing. And with what the other said, it was confirmed that he was indeed part of the Holy Grail War. Worst case scenario, he could make his run, and maybe attempt to poison him. Worst case scenario, he could call his servant, because he wasn’t going to let himself die easily. On the other hand, if this guy was friendly enough to help out a kid, then it would just be a plus. Making this guy siding with him might just be a splendid idea.
“Hrm??” He titled his head at the older male, his bright green eyes staring curiously. He rarely took the puppets off his hands if it wasn’t to eat or shower, but just hinting that he was a participant probably wouldn’t be as convincing as showing the seal. “Ah! If it’s shining marks, I do!”
Grabbing one puppet using another, he pulled his right hand out of its cover. He moved his little fingers around before lifting his hand up in the air, the back of it facing forwards. He had to be cautious of the ones around him not to let anyone else see it. “See, Haine-nii-chan?” This was it. The next move from the other male was going to decide all of this. Reisuke was ready to pull out his gas mask from below his hat.
Great. Just great.
Taking a deep breath, his expression was now serious. Haine even thought about asking if his parents knew about it, but there was really no point to it. He didn't have any idea of the nature of this boy, and well, he got in some serious stuff because of brats just slightly older than that. But to find out about it, he couldn't just kill the boy. What if he was innocent?
"Do you know how dangerous this war is?" he stated in a cold tone. He wasn't dealing with a lost kid anymore, now it was a possible enemy. But Haine wasn't truly a bad person, and really, as long as it doesn't try to hurt him, he would gladly coexist with any creature.
"Rei-kun, I'll help you for awhile. You're just a brat, after all," although he couldn't help but doubt.
He didn't have to mention he was also a master, right?
Not in damn Kansas
The albino zombie went on and on about how great he was, while Badou stood there, completely unassumed and bored by Haine’s talk. The chain smoker was used to this; just because a few bullets couldn’t take him out he had to get a whole high and mighty attitude.
“Look, don’t bring my smoking into this. Everyone has their Achilles heel, mine just happen to be cancer sticks.”
It was true. If you ever wanted to cheer Badou up, or give him an unexpected surprise, just drop by with a pack of cigarettes and he would be yours. But Badou was having some thoughts close to Haine’s. He had no idea what was going on in this town, he knew nothing of this war except everyone wanted some Holy Grail shit or whatever. Plus, Badou had yet to find this so called new master of his. At least it wasn’t Haine.
Rolling his eyes at the guardian angel joke, the ginger’s mood shifted as Haine said he would offer him another pack.
“Really now? Great! I haven’t had a cig all damn day, and I’m beat.” He walked forward, keeping pace with Haine as they walked down the street together. It felt like old times really, which was partly regrettable and comforting at the same time.
Badou was so predictable, he thought. But how weird, to walk around with this guy in such a bright place. They were so used to the dirty streets in that city...
"Right, right," he said, this time being the one to roll his eyes. "You probably arrived in Fuyuki without any money, didn't you? Or were you summoned?"
Haine almost felt bad for whoever had summoned him.
"I hope you know where we're going. I don't usually go around looking for tobacco stores," but as soon as they entered another street, they saw a small shop. It seems these could be found in every corner of the world.
"Yeah, there you go. Pick your choice."
Small Child in a Big City
“Haine… nii-chan. Haine-nii-chan!” He nodded, quickly taken a liking to the older male. Maybe it was because of his red eyes. Ah, who knew. “The last time I saw them… I can’t remember!” Well yeah, how long had it been since he left the hospital that day. It was no use thinking back to it.
“But I’m sure I’ll find them again.” The smile on his face faded slightly though it remained there. Of course what he actually meant was ‘I’ll win this war, become a super elite and make them come back to life’, but he would never say that aloud.
Reisuke faked a loud gasp, putting the little female puppet in front of his face again. “Don’t question our little Rei-kun like that! You’re going to confuse him! Especially because he doesn’t know where to start looking for some sort of holy cup!” And then of course, he pulled the other puppet closer to make it stare at the older male and then towards the other puppet, and then back at Haine again. On one hand, he hoped that this guy played along because he wanted to… not because to get rid of Reisuke as fast as he could. That would just make him go back to square one.
"Rei-kun is looking for a holy cup?" Shit.
So kids were also involved in this mess. "My friends, I need to ask you an important question. Does Rei-kun have shining marks on any of his hands?"
But really, he just needed to clarify this. How long has it been since Rei was separated from his parents, anyway? Rei doesn't remember the last time he saw them. If the boy wasn't a master, Haine would simply take him somewhere safe and go on with his life. But if he was...
"This isn't confusing at all, right?" he said, showing off his nicest smile.
Small Child in a Big City
Reisuke stepped aside in order to take a look at the person he tugged and smiled at him. He sure looked quite out of the ordinary, with white hair at a possibly young age along with crimson eyes. This person must be it. He must be the one stated by his diary. Well, he sure did look like he was strong. Though that didn’t mean Reisuke was going to attempt to kill him off already. There were so many participants in this war, if he wasn’t careful and ended up being the one eliminated first, it wouldn’t be too pleasant.
“Onii-chan! One must introduce himself first before any asking questions!” This time it was Reisuke himself that spoke, not him pretending to be the doll.
‘Yes, tell me your name!’ He thought.
If the man in front of him was a servant of this war, it would give Reisuke a great advantage! If not, well, there was nothing to lose here anyway. “Although, I haven’t seen Mama or Papa for a while now. I have no idea where they went.” He wasn’t lying though. Reisuke did have no idea where the corpses of his parents were. Or if they were up in heaven, or even deep down in hell of neglecting parents.
Such bright green eyes, Haine thought. The last time a kid referred to him as big brother was way back in Europe; it really didn't bring back nice memories. Fortunately the sadistic little twins were nothing like the boy in front of him.
"My name is Haine," and he doubted very much the other could pronounce his surname. "Do you remember how long it has been since you last saw then, at least?"
"So, can you introduce yourself to me? But hey, it was this little girl" and he pointed to one of the puppets, smiling, "who was talking to me, right? Or was it you? I'm kind of confused here."
He planned to take the boy to the closest police station, but Haine doubted he would want to go if he didn't feel comfortable around 'onii-chan'.
Not in damn Kansas
That voice, that cocky smugness Badou recognized. And then he say it, that pale skin and white hair. His old partner, Haine. The corner of the ginger’s mouth twitched in disgust. Of course Haine would be the asshole to seek him out and take the one precious thing Badou had away from him.
“Damnit Haine, you albino asshole! You owe me a pack!” Even with one eye, the glare Badou gave Haine was intense. The fucker had been gone for a few weeks, and Badou hadn’t thought much of it. Hell, Haine was able to take care of himself, being a damn immortal and all. But now, he was back, and Badou could only imagine the amount of shit the albino was going to give him.
“What the fuck are you even doing here? And here I thought I’d lost you for good.”
"Tch, yeah, I thought the same thing."
"But fate seems worried about your shitty life and brought us together again. Do you believe in karma? Perhaps I'm destined to make you stop smoking," because really, the amount of nicotine this man would consume daily...
Haine however knew better, and just having someone in this city was slightly less bothersome than being on his own. Plus, Badou was a decent information broker, and if he was going through with this war he would better prepare.
He sighed.
"For all of the times I've saved your ass, I could very well be your guardian angel." Haine was such a good partner to him. Really.
"Come on, I'm feeling generous today. I'll buy you a pack of whatever you want." Knowing the redhead, he probably knew already where he could buy his favorite cigarettes.
Small Child in a Big City
How long had it been since Reisuke wandered around a big city alone with no parent to keep him company? Oh right. That was his first time. Even so, Reisuke could barely remember it as an enjoyable activity. Though this time it was different. His Hyper Vision Diary foretold him beforehand that this afternoon, he was going to meet another participant of the Holy Grail War.
Of course with his puppets over his hands, no one would ever suspect it to be conveniently hiding command spells. Heck, no one would suspect a four year old to be part of a Holy Grail War, right?
He once again held one his puppets out as if it was talking to him. “Rei-kun, you should be careful today and not go in for a kill today! It’s not good to make yourself noticed as a participant of this war so early!” Right. He didn’t want to stand out. He did aim himself to a super elite, after all!
That said, it was hard for him to not attract attention at all. He looked like a child who lost his parents in a grocery store, except that he wasn’t exactly in a grocery store. What part of the city was he in anyways?
Sighing, he tugged the clothes of a random bypasser. He held his puppet in front of his face, as if the toy was going to do the talking for him. ”Excuse me, excuse me. I seem to have lost my way!”
Having to look around him, he only found what had tugged insistently to his knee when he looked down. And so a puppet talked to him, hiding the face of the kid. Haine sighed, used to dealing with children to some extent -- since the ones he'd deal with were orphans, genetic mutations of all sorts. He didn't really have much patience, though.
He then crouched to make eye contact to the puppet.
"Did you lose sight of your parents? Are they shopping somewhere near?" It wouldn't be surprising if that happened, after all there were many people constantly entering and leaving the stores. And he tried not to be so cold, so not to scare the little brat. Being lost in itself was probably too much already.
Not in damn Kansas [intro/open]
What the hell was this place…? Traveling to Fuyuki City had been an idea the ginger had on a whim. He had been hopping to maybe be able to uncover some dirt, take a few embarrassing snapshots, hell, steal a cat for the reward money. He was an information broker after all, that was just part of the job. But this place… it was huge, and brimming with life. The good kind of life. Not like from where he was from, were the only life you saw were corrupted people and experiments. Kicking at the ground, Badou reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out an almost empty carton of cigarettes. Taking the very last smoke he had, he placed the end of the cylinder in his mouth, and lit it.
God, nicotine tasted so good going down. Relaxing his shoulders, Badou leaned against a brick wall, just listening to people as they passed by, trying to pick up some dirt or something that sounded of money. A lot of people talked about some war, but that didn’t help much. What perked his interest was the talk of a Holy Grail. That just sounded of cash, whatever it was. And now he had to wait upon some unknown bastard to be his master? Fuck that.
Leaving his position against the wall, he must have unexpectedly startled someone or something, because a stranger brushed up against him. Hard. Hard enough to knock out the cigarette he had casually hanging in his mouth and onto the concrete below him. Hell, that wasn’t that big of a deal if he had been able to pick it up, but because of the crowded streets, the tiny smoke was crushed in an instant. And he was pissed.
“Hey! You!” He yelled as he pointed to the person who he had knocked into.
“You just lost me my last goddamn smoke! You better be prepared to pay up, asshole!”
Long red hair, smoking, eyepatch, and wearing those stupid clothes? Haine could only recognize one man like that, but he really didn't expect his partner to be in Fuyuki. Maybe he should just walk away and celebrate the fact that he wasn't in the company of such an idiot anymore, but he was too childish for that.
Besides, when would he have this opportunity again? He saw the guy take out his last cigar, and made sure to welcome him well.
With a smirk, Haine threw his shoulder against the other's, and the cigar fell to the ground. Then went on ahead, as if nothing had happened, stopping only when he heard the familiar voice screaming in pure shock.
"What? Did someone lose their pacifier?" he said, grinning.
